SYNAPSE CIRCUIT WHAT’S WRONG WITH HTC?

SYNAPSE CIRCUIT
WHAT’S WRONG WITH HTC?

Goodhour, Synapse Circuit Readers! It's so lovely to see you! I hope that all is well with you and yours!

Hey! Are you due for an upgrade soon? How does the HTC One M9 or the Galaxy S6 grab you?

#HTC #OneM9 #Hima #1stMarch #TimCook #Samsung #GalaxyS6 #GalaxySEdge

HATER
When I think about HTC several things come to mind...

1. CEO, Peter Chou was trashing the Samsung Galaxy S4 upon the launch with very uncomplimentary choice words regarding the Air gestures.

2. Beautiful designs that look like they’ve come out of Sci-Fi movies from different eras – the Desire reminds me of the Buck Rodgers of 1939 but in a positive way.

3. Deeply disappointing cameras.

TRASH TALK
I will never understand why rivals in business or any other arena think that talking trash against the other will cause the other to crumble or something... Maybe this kind of thing works in the martial arts / boxing sports industries but it definitely does not work in the mobile device industry. Apple? Apple against “those other guys”? Well, if the recent record iPhone 6 & 6 Plus sales are to be believed and anything to go by then I am certain that this is because Cook and co did not focus the attention upon so called rivals (remember: iOS and Android are two separate platforms). Ever since Apple kicked up a stink against Samsung and Android in general they’ve been inadvertently promoting “those other guys” and especially Samsung. Had Apple mentioned the rival Galaxy Note at the iPhone 6 Plus launch it would have diverted the attention to the better handset and cause people to think about the up and coming Galaxy Note 4. Smart move!

Going back to HTC... Apart from the beautiful and original handset designs HTC never did anything with Android other than to enclose it with its Sense UI overlay. Whether you like Samsung’s TouchWiz or not you just have to appreciate the marvellous things that Samsung has brought out of Android such as the Air gestures and eye tracker for example. Sense is okay, but I do prefer TouchWiz. That said, I do wish for aspects of TouchWiz to come in the form of widgets... Ironically, now that Android is going into the 64-bit era I don’t think there will be an issue of lag even in the heaviest of version of TouchWiz. That said the 32-bit Galaxy Note 4 and the Nexus 6 are equally fast and there is no lag thus so far!

Because Sense does not bring much – if anything to the Android UI HTC ought to think about giving consumers a vanilla or close to experience like that of the Moto handsets from Motorola.

DESIRABLE
What I love about Android in general is that the operating system inspires manufacturers to create the most amazing designs... ...just take look at LG and the G3... Mwah! Gorgeous! The Sharp Aquos Crystal... WOW! I do think that HTC definitely blazed a trail in the design department. I actually wanted the One M7, M8 and I know that I would want the M9.

Certainly the One M7 beat the iPhone at its own game; the front-facing speakers are wonderful! The unibody feels so good in the hand. As I’ve said before, the One M7 came across like an alien visitor had left his / her phone behind. ET can’t phone home...

I have to say that, as a Samsung fan, that I was tempted to go HTC as the Samsung designs got safe after the Galaxy S3. I was also tempted by the LG G3 too! But there is one department that HTC has always been lacking in...

SAY “CHEESE”
I can’t think of a single HTC handset that features a decent camera. I did a review on a HTC Sensation a while back and the camera was bad despite the wonderful design. So, when I heard “Ultrapixels” and how it really boiled down to 4MP I knew that the One M7 was not for me. I LOVE smartphone photography and the one manufacturer that has kept true to its camera promise is... <drum roll> ...Samsung! I was so very impressed with the Galaxy S3 camera and it got better for the Galaxy S4, Note 2, 3 and 4.

I am always bewildered by some of the “reviews” I’ve seen on Samsung’s premium efforts with regards to the camera interface... ...some reviews say that the camera interface is too complex when it is anything but! If you own a good digital camera you will find similar – if not the same – options for auto, night photography, sports and so on. Fair enough, it does take a bit of time to get used to but once you have tried out the photo options you’d be prepared for any situation instinctively. Another thing that I love about Samsung premium handset cameras is that I can say “shoot” and the shot is taken. The camera is a principal reason why I have stuck with Samsung handsets. And while the designs have become fairly safe they do grow on me once the handset is in my possession.

What I find frustrating about HTC cameras is that the photos are grainy – so much noise is present in photos taken in various situations. Obviously, night shots suffer the most. Video can be choppy and not crisp.

CONSISTENTLY INCONSISTENT
It seems very obvious to me that HTC wants to be like Samsung – maybe not so much now as Samsung’s profits seems to be sliding at the moment but HTC releases a bunch of interesting looking handsets – well, they are variants of the One M design that all feature a disappointing camera.

I wonder to myself as to why HTC doesn’t get the camera of its flagship right before releasing all these other handsets. I find that a bit strange. Who is buying these handsets? I can’t say that I have seen anything but the One M7 & M8 on the streets of London. I’ve learned to not bother with HTC midrange handsets as the power isn’t there and, again, the camera is disappointing.

As always, the HTC handsets look tempting but they just aren’t happening for my tastes.

IN CLOSING
I think that HTC could actually do it this time... ...the One M9 could actually be the handset that can challenge the Samsung Galaxy S6 in a big way! Here are some rumoured specs:-

5" 1080p Super LCD3 display.
Snapdragon 810 chip.
Adreno 430 GPU.
3GB of RAM.
32GB, 64GB and 128GB of internal storage options.

If the 5” 1080p display is correct then it shows HTC is looking to maximize the battery longevity. Quad-HD displays are great but they do drain the battery somewhat. Hmmmm... I am not too sure if 5” is a good thing by today’s standards. When I look at the iPhone 6 and then the 6 Plus I wonder why anyone would bother with the smaller version. That said, a lot of people seem to think that 5” is just about right. I guess that once you go beyond 5” it’s hard to go back. I love the Galaxy Note 4 and Nexus 6 screens and I am looking at getting one or two more handsets this year... A 5.5” screen is what I am looking for. If I go below 5.5” then it has to be something special. There's another rumour going around that HTC will release a 6" version alongside the 5"! We'll see...

The camera rumours get interesting with a 20.7MP main camera with either a 4MP Ultrapixel or 13MP front-facing camera. Now, if the camera comes from Sony then it could make a great difference to the sales as non-technical consumers have come to understand the photographic possibilities of a premium smartphone. I reckon that many consumers got taken in by the metal unibody and front-facing speakers. If they heard “Ultrapixels” and thought that meant a decent camera then they certainly found out the hard way. There again, I can imagine that there are many people that feel the 4MP Ultrapixel camera is enough for their social network feeds. I think such folk are in a minority.

The One M9 could be a best seller for HTC and it will be announced 1st March 2015 at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain. Yes, the same date as the Samsung Galaxy S6 launch! Ooooh! Fight! Fight!

SYNAPSE CIRCUIT WHERE ARE THE POWER ANDROID TABLETS?

Above: The Archos 70 Helium 4G tablet. It is a great idea and it may have it the market too late. Archos tablets always showed great promise and perhaps that this year they can deliver a killer tablet to a critical acclaim that Archos deserves.
SYNAPSE CIRCUIT
WHERE ARE THEY – THE POWER ANDROID TABLETS?

Goodhour, Synapse Circuit Readers! How are you? How are your tech related projects coming along? Well, I hope that all is well with you and yours!

Are you the owner of an Android tablet? Was it one of those cheap ones from China? Did it make you go iPad? Are you thinking of buying a tablet sometime soon? Read on!

#Android #AndroidTablet #Samsung #ASUS #Archos #MagixMovieEditTouch

WAS IT WORTH IT?
Yes, that’s right! I am talking to you! You, the person that spent good money or no good money on a sub £200 Android tablet! Was it worth it? Well, it is just fortunate for me that my ASUS FonePad 7 LTE is able to make and take calls and run the occasional app (sarcasm – and I know what they say about it, thank you) or two... However, when it comes to running apps that require some CPU power the FonePad 7 LTE transforms (see what I did there) into a very expensive table mat.

If you have been following my articles on Android in particular (yes, I write about other aspects of tech) then you will know that I have been frustrated with the lack of apps for video editing. Well, actually, there is one decent app that I know of that you ought to visit the Google Play Store and install Magix Movie Edit Touch! As you have figured out you will need a decent handset or tablet to make the most of it. Yes, there are some in-app purchases but worth it.

Above: Magix Movie Edit Touch for Android. You will need a decent CPU on your device to make this work! I had no problems with it on my Samsung Galaxy Note 4. Here's the link to the Play Store: Magix Movie Edit Touch

YES, IT WAS
Of course it was worth it! Although the ASUS FonePad 7 LTE can be sometimes be likened to using a banana for a hammer there are many apps such as music ones (I don’t play games) that function just fine. I have a phone too – even though I can’t use the data aspect of my SIM. Boo! It’s down to Android why I, and millions of others, have been able to utilize a tablet for consuming media and social networking. It has enabled parents of different backgrounds to entertain their child or children with a cost effective tablet that doesn’t break the bank. It’s great to see children entertaining themselves with the aid of a tablet. An Android tablet to be precise! Again, the iPad and its mini variant have not entered the mainstream; the iPad is not commonplace. And to be honest the Android tablet isn’t quite commonplace either.

Still, I know that many folk purchased an Android tablet in the UK’s first Black Friday!

NO, IT WASN’T
Playing Devil’s advocate I say that the cheap Android tablet is most likely to have given non-technical hopefuls the wrong impression. “I can play some 3D games! Yay!” No! Just like there are standards with the Android handset it is the same with tablets.

Some consumers had to learn the hard way! I must admit that I was taken in by the ASUS promotional blurb regarding the FonePad 7 LTE. I should have known better! Lol! But you do, despite all the promotional text, get what you pay for! The £60 tablet was never really a good idea was it? Still, at least you didn’t waste much money on it!

WHERE ARE THE POWER ANDROID TABLETS?
Over the years we’ve seen some great, great efforts from Samsung and ASUS in terms of aiming for the high standards that the iPad set. The Galaxy Tab S range came so very close. ASUS weren’t far off with the brilliant Nexus 7 tablets. Last year there was a slump in the tablet uptake and that’s because we are just waiting for these powerful 64-bit beasts.

Not only that, we’re waiting for a reasonable price point...

Samsung is at it again with several tablets lined up for this year:-

Galaxy Tab AS – SM-T351
Galaxy Tab AL – SM-T551
Galaxy Tab AS – SM-T350
Galaxy Tab AL – SM-T550
Galaxy Tab AL Plus – SM-P551
Galaxy Tab AL Plus – SM-P550
Galaxy Tab AS Plus – SM-P351
Galaxy Tab AS Plus – SM-P350

All are said to feature a 64-bit processor; I am very curious... I’ve been waiting for the right opportunity to purchase a serious tablet and it could be a Galaxy Tab of some sort... ASUS is very quiet on the Android tablet front but are going to try to take a stab at the Windows tablet market with the Transformer Book Chi. Hmmmm... I think ASUS is working on a strategy with regards to its Android tablet or tablets; like Samsung they release many, many Android tablets to the market with varying sizes and CPU capabilities. It wouldn’t surprise me if ASUS made a loss on the myriad of those Android tablets.

What is the purpose of releasing so many Android tablets to the market as it may have a confusing effect upon the consumer? Why don’t manufacturers produce fewer models and up the quality of the entry range which is usually a 7” or 8” tablet? I do think that manufacturers should feature a mobile connection i.e. 4G LTE by default. I think it is such a waste of resources to manufacture tablets without a mobile radio (4G LTE & 3G). Really and truly 3G should be a thing of the past and that 7” 4G / 3G enabled tablets should be treated as a phone; the ASUS FonePad 7 LTE can make and take calls but most annoyingly I can’t access the data plan on my SIM. I would have to purchase a SIM meant for tablets. I think this is a load of crap!

Going back to ASUS... I know I keep harping on about the Zenfone 2 having a 64-bit processor and 4GB RAM for around $200... What can we expect from ASUS regarding its next generation of tablets? I certainly expect be able to utilize the Magix Movie Edit Touch app on one of ASUS’ level entry 64-bit tablet / PhonePad 7 LTE 2015.

IN CLOSING
Right now the tech media is going crazy over the imminent Samsung Galaxy S6 – rightly so. However, the Android tablet situation for this year and beyond looks very enticing indeed. Again, if you are non-technical and think that the “phablet” i.e. the Nexus 6 or the Galaxy Note 4 is a happy medium you need to have a rethink. There are very specific app designed for the tablet and you will not get the full tablet experience with a phablet. I have 3 phablets, Galaxy Note 2, 4 and Nexus 6 you would think that’d be pissed off that I have to buy a tablet (more powerful than the FonePad 7 LTE) but I am not. I am very much looking forward to owning a powerhouse Android tablet.

WHAT ARE THE MANUFACTURERS WAITING FOR?
I am quite surprised that the Android industry hasn’t delivered a knockout blow to the PC industry. I do think that it can happen; PCs seem pretty much redundant today. Look, we’re dealing with 4K video now and to do that on a PC you bought a few years ago you will almost certainly have to replace the graphics card and fit a faster processor – if the motherboard supports such recent components. I find PCs frustrating at times and I welcome a powerhouse tablet that would keep me away from the PC for as long as possible!

The iPad? Well, I can see that Apple doesn’t know what it’s doing... Jobs’ corpse didn’t have time to get cold before an iPad mini was announced and it diluted the 10” iPad market. Then, knowingly, Apple released the iPhone 6 Plus and that seems to have diluted both the iPad and the mini. I also noticed that the Apple App Store doesn’t have a separate department for the iPad. I could be wrong! Anyhoo, the Google Play Store has a growing tablet app department. With Lollipop, a 64-bit processor and 3GB or 4GB of RAM the Android tablet could really take off.

I also think that if the manufacturers concentrated on build quality and reduce all these different models I think they’d be able to produce better products. I shudder to think of all those cheap tablets that the shops can’t shift (until the next UK Black Friday). I think it’s a waste.

The Android market in general is a very changeable one as it just takes one chip manufacturer to develop the next best CPU and you have a killer product – potentially! Look at NVIDIA’s Shield gaming tablet as an example of an ever changing Android, the Tegra K1 processor is already old news and there are a small amount of applications able to utilize the powerful processor.

I ask: where’s Google? What’s Google doing about this? With Apple they make sure that the iPhone and iPad have a set of specific Apple produced apps as a base. Google on the other hand seem to be slacking in the app area. Sure, I know... ...we are blessed with Google Now, Maps, YouTube, Gmail, Docs, Slides, Sheets, etc. But we NEED more! Lots more! Sometimes I think to myself, “Why are you (Google) messing around with Glass and not producing some serious applications for the handset and tablet?” I do wish Google would step-up in the application department. I do respect that they have a lot on its plate but they need to concentrate on cementing the whole Android experience. Could it be that Glass experienced so much negativity because they have so many fingers in different pies? This is why Sundar Pichai has been given the reins of Android, Chrome and Google Apps as CEO Larry Page and Google co-founder, Sergey Brin can continue to explore other projects.

I am hoping that from here on out that Google can deliver a more rounded Android experience and especially where tablets are concerned.

SYNAPSE CIRCUIT SAMSUNG DESIGN PRINCIPALS

SYNAPSE CIRCUIT
SAMSUNG'S DESIGN PRINCIPALS

Goodhour, Synapse Circuit Readers! It’s wonderful to see you as always! I hope that you’re well and making the most of your tech! I also hope that you are wrapped up warm in this chilly period! Don’t catch a cold!

It’s less than a month before we can see what the Samsung Galaxy S6 is made of – literally! The wait is excruciating... The Galaxy S6 could revolutionize the mobile industry as they did with the Galaxy S2, S3, S4 and the Galaxy Note series. 2014’s saving grace was the Galaxy Note 4. Will the Galaxy S6 take 2015? Read on!

#Samsung #GalaxyS6 #GalaxySEdge #GalaxyS6Rumours

INSTITUTIONAL DESIGN
I don’t know about you but it is clear to me that there distinct design philosophies going on with Android manufacturers – which is vast and, of course, Apple are very evangelical about its iPhone design what with Jony Ive appearing like an apparition via a video at iPhone launches.

Samsung remains the most influential Android manufacturer in the world. As I have mentioned in another article, the Galaxy S2 design is what has kept the Android industry going to this present day! I think Sony has taken the S2 design to its bosom especially. Huawei and early LG handsets closely resembled the Galaxy S2. I have to take my hat off to HTC for creating some of the best looking handsets in the world – from the Hero to the Desire and right up to the present day One M8. I also have to congratulate Motorola for creating a new design language after it was being written off. I just love the Moto range of handsets; it makes up for the dire RAZRi.

Those other guys (Apple) hasn’t really deviated from the first iPhone design; it just got taller with changes to the back – nothing major. When Samsung released the Galaxy S3 it certainly created a ripple and after reviewing it I became a believer (in Samsung’s designs). The Galaxy S3 was markedly different and broke free of the rectangular design. When the Galaxy S4 came out the design looked like a Galaxy Note mini and I think that this is where Samsung got the idea to keep a uniformed look to both the Galaxy S and Note just like how the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus appear. For Samsung I would imagine that this standardization was a bit of a relief as creating new designs in the Android arena is fraught with pitfalls. It just takes one bad design and it’s game over! Just look at the LG Vu! By creating a design stable for both the Galaxy S and Note it could have meant that consumers would recognize these handsets in the same way that the iPhone is recognized. However, what has dogged Samsung is the idea that its handsets aren’t premium because of the plastic build. I have often said that I have found this idea strange as I prefer, as a consumer, materials that will give the handset longevity. I don’t drop my handsets very often but when I did drop the Galaxy Note 2 it bounced and remained intact; not a scratch on the body or screen! When I saw this big handset bounce I feared the worst... But the plastic absorbed the shock... Cool!

REVERSALS
It is so ironic that the iPhone 6 Plus is said to be a great seller because of the long desired larger screen that has been a staple of Android designs ever since the Dell Streak even though it took the Galaxy Note to make that connection with the consumer.

So, it looks as though Samsung will make the battery in the Galaxy S6 non-removable in favour of a unibody design. The more I think about it the more I get used to the idea simply because Samsung handsets are pretty good where the battery is concerned. If Samsung decides to go non-removable for the S6 or any other handset such as the Galaxy A series then it’s because they’ve figured out how to make the battery last with the hardware. Plus I am quite sure that Samsung will release an external battery pack in due course.

A unibody Galaxy S6 with the back made of glass could very well silence the critics; there again the Galaxy Note 4 and Edge are undeniably premium with a removable battery. I will be very curious to see how a unibody Galaxy S6 pans out for Samsung.

I have been put off by unibody handsets as my HTC One X goes quite quickly. And as much as I love the look of the One M7 & M8 it was the cameras that put me off. Since then I have stuck my neck out and have gotten myself a Moto G 2014 and Nexus 6. But I am not sure if I would go Nexus again as I do appreciate the microSD card slot!

DESIGN FLOW
Just like the Galaxy Note Edge we pretty much know that there will be a Galaxy S Edge but is it dual edged or singular like the Galaxy Note Edge? LG had an experimental dual edged handset at the CES and it is feasible that the Galaxy S Edge will feature a dual edged display. When it comes out in the UK would the Galaxy S Edge variation be another exclusive to the carrier Vodaphone? I sure hope not! Could it be possible that the Galaxy S Edge will feature the non-removable battery? Could it be that the standard Galaxy S6 will retain the removable battery? I have no idea. I have seen so called “leaked” pictures of an alleged Galaxy S6 frame but it does look more like it belongs to the iPhone. I am not going to include these “leaked” pictures as I don’t want to get your hopes up.

Once again the rumour mill is fluctuating between a 5” and 5.5” screen; between 3GB RAM and 4GB. Hmmmm... With the alleged pricing details for the Galaxy S6 and S Edge it may be a possibility that 4GB of RAM could end up in one of the variants.

Galaxy S6

32GB internal memory, €749
64GB, €849
128GB, €949

Galaxy S Edge

32GB, €849
64GB, €949
128GB, €1049

See? I think that this time around the price differences could mean more than just the edged screen. I could be wrong. But such prices couldn’t possibly be for a 5” screen, right? There again these prices aren’t confirmed.

REVOLUTIONARY
The fact that the tech media is writing about the Galaxy S6 possibilities every day is telling me that there is a tremendous amount of pressure on Samsung to revolutionize the smartphone world. It’s not just taking on the Android market but is said to be competing with iOS even though they are separate platforms. I’ve seen the Apple App Store lately and there’s nothing on there that would make me want to go iPhone 6 Plus. The Apple vs. Samsung thing is really dead because Samsung have won in terms of design and function. Once again, Samsung’s biggest competitor is... ...Samsung! I don’t know too much about how the carriers operate in other parts of the world but there aren’t many people here in the UK that buys handsets outright unless they are forced to; we take out a 24 month contract on these beautiful things. Many of these Chinese handsets haven’t entered the UK market yet. Sorry, but I don’t care for an invite to buy a OnePlus handset. Samsung still rules the high-end market. For some reason best known to Samsung the Galaxy S5 didn’t tick all the boxes. But now that we are entering the realm of 64-bit Android the Galaxy S6 should change Samsung’s fortunes greatly! The question remains: Is Samsung’s Exynos chip up to the task? HTC have been gunning for Samsung’s crown and the One M9 is said to also feature a 20MP (like the Galaxy S6) and LG is releasing the Flex 2 – both handsets is said feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chip! Can the Exynos chip take on the Snapdragon 810?

We’ll just have to wait and see... February is going to be a slow month... Lol!

ANTISOCIAL NETWORKING: THE SPAM SCHISM OF G+

Goodhour, Synapse Circuit Readers! It’s great to see you as always! Are you sitting comfortably in the warmth of your wonderful abode! Are you due for an upgrade soon? Will it be the Galaxy S6 or the One M9?

Yes, this is the follow-up to the ‘ANTISOCIAL NETWORKING: THE IMMATURITY OF G+& THE HELLISH SCHIZOID AUTOMATONS’ article... Read on!

#Google #G+ #GooglePlus #GeePlus #Spam #Trolls #BrownNosing

LET’S RECAP
I joined a Google Plus “community” some time ago – maybe some 18 months ago or more. The community specialized in technology.

I thought I had made a friend with, Duke Carico, who appeared to be the owner / lead moderator of the “community” who said that he enjoyed my articles. Posting my articles wasn’t a problem in the beginning. Further down the line... ...much, much further I posted an article that probably got flagged up as “possible spam” by Google Plus. As a result of that (possible) flag one of the 16 moderators removed the link. I challenged the moderator’s decision and I was banned. I contacted Carico, told him what had happened and I was unbanned. That was the first time I asked to be unbanned.

The second time was when, after a long while, I went to post another article and discovered that I was banned again. I spoke to Carcio about it for the second and final time despite Carico’s exaggerations. I then posted up a reintroduction to myself as Blue Gene and Synapse Circuit. I also posted a review of the Google Nexus 6. Within minutes the reintroduction was removed. So, I posted up 2 more reintroductions and they were also removed but the article remained. Typically, I was confronted with a moderator regarding my reintroduction. I told this moderator that I had done nothing wrong which then prompted Carico to go nuts...

“Wow . . .This is Duke I didn't write the last reply, but just saw this!  I'm goint to reply and then end this!

BG - Simply because Duke got it wrong and he won't admit that.

YOU DON'T HAVE A CLUE AS TO WHAT i ADMITED AND DIDN'T ADMIT. NOT ALL CONVERSATIONS ABOUT YOU TAKE PLACE IN YOUR SPAMMY THREADS. I EXPLAINED TO THE  MODS HANGOUT THAT I DID INDEED THINK YOU WERE REFERRING TO ME BECAUSE I DELETED THE FIRST POST. IT WAS A GLOAT. NOT BECAUSE YOU REFERRED TO A TROLL . . .  BUT BECAUSE YOU SAID YOU WEREN'T A SPAMMER.

Oh, I could say so much more, but there is no need. BECAUSE YOU ARE THE ONE WHO CAN'T ACCEPT THE CONSQUENCES. AND I'M TIRED OF ARGUING. YOU CAN'T BE GRACIOUS! YOU MUST HAVE THE LAST WORD. MODS, I AM BLOCKING THIS TROUBLE MAKER!  i HAVE BENT OVER BACKWARDS TO HELP HER AND PROMOTE HER AND ALL SHE WISHES TO DO IS WIN SOME TRIVIAL ARGUMENT.

At least this time, you can blame someone in the T&C community for being banned and be right about it!  YOU WIN! HA!?”

DO YOU SEE THE BIZARRE CONTRADICTIONS?

1. He thought that I was “gloating” in at least one of the reintroductions of the 3 I had made; what was wrong with the other 2? There is no rule to say that you can’t reintroduce yourself to new members.

2. If my posts were “spammy” why did he “bend over backwards to help and promote” me? I had every right to challenge the nonexistent rule about posting a reintroduction and being called a “spammer” when I am nothing of the sort!

Did you see the spelling mistakes and grammatical errors? And this Carico guy is telling me that I should learn to write? LMAO! Okay, let’s look at the “rules” that I have been constantly referred to...

THE RULES

“Spam -- There are a few definitions of what spam is. In our community we identify spam by the following criteria.  -- A post that is simply a link with no accompanying text to explain the contents found at the link. -- The same post is made to more than two communities. If we are unable to identify how many posts have been made because the poster's profile is private the we will err toward spam. -- A post that links to the poster's personal blog or article. If we feel that the link is posted to generated hits, views, or income for the poster than it will likely be considered spam...”

First of all they have decided to make their own definitions (as and when it pleases). But the bottom line is that they do not want to help writers generate their readership. However, Carico had no problem with my articles.

Above: Oh, look! Links to articles. But I thought... Never mind...

EXPOSED
In the first article I used a fake name as I didn’t want to out the person. However, as he has responded to the article he has let himself known, Duke Carico.

Such a nice guy! Add him at your peril. LMAO!

Some comments to the article were hidden as Google says they are "probably spam". It was just hateful comments. Too bad Google doesn't employ an algorithm to spot abuse / bullying.

WHAT WAS THE AIM OF THE ORIGINAL ARTICLE?
The aim of the ‘ANTISOCIAL NETWORKING: THE IMMATURITY OF G+ & THE HELLISH SCHIZOID AUTOMATONS...’ was to show how Google Plus’ policy on “possible” spam can induce nastiness in people. The article also goes to show that some people, as a result of Google Plus’ “spam” policy aren’t able to think for themselves.

This idea that posting a one article in different communities is simply idiotic because let’s say that you or I wrote a review on, let’s say a Samsung phone. As you know Samsung handsets are mostly Android based so therefore the article is relevant in an Android community and another for general tech. So, that’s why Google Plus’ attitude towards spam is immature.

I think that the response from Carico, moderators and some “community” members demonstrates the above. Some have even stated that I am not actually a “spammer” but then become punctuation Nazis and start to find fault with the articles. They think that this behaviour is “community” oriented. They think that knowingly making false accusations and personal attacks is “community”.

The purpose of the article was never to “win” but to capture spitefulness and the sheeple that join in the personal attacks for no other reason that I can think of other than to brownnose. It’s a study in what I call “Antisocial Networking Hive Behaviour”.

I find it fascinating that some people can’t understand when one of their friends treats someone else in an unfriendly manner for no reason and attacks that someone else for demonstrating his or her discontent with the unfriendly friend. Do you follow? It’s like someone saying to a Jewish person, “Well, Hitler was nice to me because I am German...” Not that I am comparing Carico to Hitler. The analogy is just to show just how blind people can be defending their friend.

It’s spam... Well, actually it’s not spam... It’s the writing... It’s the writer... LMAO! You can’t please everybody!

Above: Notice that nobody says anything to what System Circuitry has stated. System Circuitry was banned from the "community" for having a different point of view.

DELETED
Wouldn’t it be nice if we could, in real life, delete people we disagreed with? “I thought the Lord of the Rings movies were great!” Deleted! Problem solved. “Being a Vegan is the only way to live!” Deleted! Great! “Good morning!” There is nothing good about mornings! Deleted! There! Ha! “This iPhone is better than Android!” Deleted! You get the picture! I guess some would say that this happens in real life as I am sure you could say that John. F. Kennedy, Martin Luther King, Malcolm X, Robert Kennedy, Karen Silkwood got deleted for standing for what they believed in.

This is how many people behave when someone disagrees with some odd decision making in some of these “communities”. All you have to do is disagree with the inconsistencies in their argument(s) and you are ostracised from the “community”. Instead of conversing and resolving issues some of these people get a strange pleasure from ostracizing others. And these are not teenagers doing their best to be obnoxious as we know teenagers can be. No! These are adults! If they are blessed to have a child or children one has to wonder what kind of values they are instilling.

I guess that’s how some people are. It’s a shame that some people aren’t able to resolve matters in an adult manner. Anyway, I wish Carico and his community all the best.

HOPE
I do hope that G Plus (Gee Plus, Google Plus) revises its policy on “spam” as I believe that it will foster a positive attitude in its clientele.

It’s true, some communities have banned me for the same reasons as Carcio pointed out, Google Plus flags posts as possible spam if one article is shared with multiple communities. By the same token my articles have been accepted by other communities. When Google Plus communities work it is such a good feeling; it’s nice to make connections with others.

At some point I would like to create a community whereby people can relate to each other, have discussions and that writers can share their work without the fear of being labelled a “spammer”. I would be very proud if I could help a writer grow his or her readership. I’ve got no time for petty minded people. Share the love is what I say! Technology is supposed to bring people together!

I reckon that a good community does not require a moderator let alone 16! Moderators in general have a tendency to be power mad and corrupt communities and forums with their heavy and clumsy handling of people with another viewpoint. I don’t want to have a community based on virtual clones! I want people to enjoy expressing themselves and exchanging with others. I am hopeful!

SYNAPSE CIRCUIT SAMSUNG GALAXY S6 THROWING A CURVE

SYNAPSE CIRCUIT
SAMSUNG GALAXY S6: THROWING A CURVE

Goodhour, Synapse Circuit Readers! How are you? Me? I am good; sipping on some herbal tea right now. How are your tech projects coming along? Have you started on your website? Let me know what you are up to!

Hey, hey, hey! What’s this? What’s next? My new handset, that's what's next!

#Samsung #GalaxyS6

UNPACKED 2015
Don’t you just love Samsung’s Unpacked events? I know I do! What will be revealed on the 1st of March 2015 in Barcelona may come as a pleasant surprise of disappointment! These days Samsung are quite unpredictable; around this time last year the anticipation for the Galaxy S5 reached fever pitch and the anticlimax was a bit much to take in at first. But once the Galaxy S5 was in the palm of my hands I really appreciated the design.

Here we are again... What do we make of the curved profile in the invite? I’ve been sitting here trying to imagine what that curve translates to in terms of design and I cannot figure it which is probably a good thing! Lol! There’s no point in me showing you the various “leaked” pictures I’ve seen as they don’t look authentic and furthermore they do not feature a curve. I could also show you patent drawings but it’s pointless because these patents do not specify a particular model. For all I know the patent could be for the Galaxy Note 5 or a different handset altogether. Galaxy S6 cases? Well, one case manufacturer in particular showed a case for the nonexistent Galaxy S5 Prime. This same manufacturer is showing a case for the Galaxy S6! Forget it!

As per usual the much rumoured specs keep fluctuating between 3GB – 4GB RAM, 5” – 5.5” screen, 16MP – 20MP camera and non-removable battery. Then there’s the possibility of a double edged variation that could be in short supply like Galaxy Note Edge. There again if the screen is only 5” there is a possibility that there will be one design that features a dual curved edge. There are no details about colour availability. That’s the one aspect of the Galaxy S range that I do not like – the
colour variations are usually released much further down the line.

RIDING HIGH
I am of the opinion that way too much has been made of Samsung’s sales slump; the Galaxy S5 just didn’t meet the flagship criteria that we expect from Samsung. In addition the budget to mid-range handset was redefined by Motorola and the burgeoning Chinese manufacturers. Samsung’s premium flagships are still quite formidable but the Galaxy Note 4 is, I believe, what Samsung fans have gone for instead of the Galaxy S5. Hence ‘Project Zero’; the Galaxy S6 has to be redefined to, hopefully, look markedly different from the Galaxy Note series. What did I say about the Galaxy S following the Note? Yes, that’s right: The Galaxy S took the design cue from the last Note. This is why the Galaxy S4 looks like a mini Galaxy Note 2. A new design sensibility with the Galaxy S6 ought to make it desirable again. Should Samsung get it right this time around I do believe that the Galaxy S6 should be the start of reversing the slump.

The Galaxy S6 could very well be my next handset. 25 days to go... Be afraid... Be very afraid... Lol! I am just kiddin’! I am quite excited about get a hold of this 64-bit handset!

SYNAPSE CIRCUIT
GOOGLE PLAY TODAY:
IS APPLE APP STORE SO GREAT?

Goodhour, Synapse Circuit Readers! How goes it? I hope that all is well with you and yours! Thank you so much for reading my articles last week! Much appreciated!

Today I was some (ongoing) research into the differences between Google Play Store and Apple App Store... Guess what I discovered...

#GooglePlayStore #AppleAppStore #Android #iOS

SIMILARITIES
Looking at both Google Play Store and Apple App Store I can see that they are very similar at a glance. Delving deeper I looked in the category of ‘Productivity’ to see if I could see anything that stood out from either store.

Remarkably, the apps on the App Store didn’t appear to be as advanced as I thought it would be. When it came to word processing, for example, I found that the two stores were equally matched; Docs (Google) and Pages (Apple) both achieve the same goal in producing documents mixing text and images.

As I keep harping on about, the one difference is that when it comes to video editing this is where the App Store has the slight edge in that the iPhone has iMovie preinstalled and there is also version available for purchase that adds more features. Again, the similarities continue with the amount of video editing apps that offer in-app purchases. However, manufacturers like Samsung and HTC have respective video editing apps of their own making that you won’t find within Google Play Store. I can only hope that Google will produce a video editing app at some point soon! It makes sense as they own YouTube!

Each of the stores has an abundance of games (that I don’t have time to play) and the overall category listing is quite similar too! However, Play Store has the edge in ‘Personalization’ apps to give Android a custom look from launchers to keyboards, wallpapers, icon packs, etc. That said, the App Store has the overall edge in terms of app quality. Some Android versions of iOS apps can be lacking in features and this could be down to the developers shifting from another platform; upgrades can bring these anaemic apps up to scratch. It took the Android Facebook app one heck of a long time to get to be as snappy as it is on iOS!

PREDICTIONS
As I have said, 2015 is the year of Android. All the major manufacturers are gearing up to release 64-bit handsets come March and tablets further down the line. As a result I am expecting a leap in the quality of apps. The games on the Android platform are proving to as financially lucrative as games on iOS. I predict that by summer this year Android games will edge out over iOS in terms of sales. I am going to stick my neck out and state that we’ll see many Android developers taking advantage of the 64-bits thus resulting in apps that appear more like computer software. We should be seeing an exponential leap in the quality of Android apps. We’ll get to understand what makes Lollipop so sweet!

And let’s not forget that Samsung has its own app store, Galaxy Apps, which will feature apps specifically for Galaxy handsets. I think that is a good move on Samsung’s part. Galaxy S6 launch is imminent and I am very curious as to what Samsung apps will compliment the hardware. We’ve already got Soundcamp on the Galaxy Note 4 for music composition and compatibility with IK Multimedia products that specializes in music interfaces and apps to assist musical composition. IK Multimedia has done a lot of apps / interfaces for the iPhone and iPad. The future for Android does look very good indeed – at least on the flagship end of the market. I am very interested in what 64-bits will bring to the mid to high-end Android handsets such as the Zenfone 2 from ASUS; will it be able to handle demanding apps with aplomb as you’d expect from the high end handsets? What will these demanding apps mean for non-64-bit handsets such as the Nexus 6 and Galaxy Note 4? Could it be that app developers will have to create 32-bit versions separately? We’ll just have to wait and see! I admit that many of my predictions in the past have been way off! Lol! But the deeper I get in this technological labyrinth the more accurate my predictions have become.

Quality Android apps here we come!
