SYNAPSE CIRCUIT JONY IVE’S PAIN OF GIVING BIRTH TO TECH

"When it came out of me it left a gaping hole about this big!"
SYNAPSE CIRCUIT
JONY IVE’S PAIN OF GIVING BIRTH TO TECH.

#JonyIve #Ive #Apple #iPhone6

Good evening, Good Friends! How are you? Me? I am in shock... I am seriously disappointed that my nephew has got an iPhone 5S of all the wonderful choices out there! Lol! I’m kiddin’! Each to his or her own!

Apple fans got a rare treat with the recent interview given by none other than Jony Ive, VP of Design! Whoohoo? Not so much woo or hoo! Here’s why...

PAIN

"It's not just about aesthetics... Our success is a victory for purity, integrity - for giving a damn." Yeah, yeah... The man is so bleeding annoying! Lol! Anyone would think that he’s just stepped out of the clouds as a saviour of all things computer and mobile!

Here are his thoughts on the competition... “It's theft. What's copied isn't just a design, it's thousands and thousands of hours of struggle... It takes years of investment, years of pain."

I am assuming that it’s yet another pot shot at Samsung and of course a Chinese manufacturer or two that have not only copied the iPhone design but have Android on instead! Hee hee hee... Ok, I can understand that the latter would be enough to cheese him off! But isn’t copying the best form of flattery?

Essentially, Ive and Apple are just trying to claim the oblong shape for a handset as theirs exclusively! Very funny! The oblong shape for mobiles – aka the candybar – has been used for years and by so many manufacturers. If you have been following the Apple vs. Samsung case you’d know that Apple got the design idea for the iPhone from Sony. Samsung just improved the concept and have kept getting better with each model. There is no way that Ive can claim the Galaxy S2 and Note’s 1, 2 and 3 were their idea! Uh-uh!

SORE LOSERS
Such interviews just keep confirming what I have been saying about Apple: sore losers! They may as well stop doing interviews if all they keep doing is gripe and blow smoke up their own derrieres!

All they are doing with this rhetoric is to continue to fuel this “them against us” thinking among their followers. Technology is what it is no matter what it is wrapped up in... Aluminium, glass, polycarbonate, etc! Either it works or it doesn’t! And no matter how many months or years it takes for Apple to design something as simple as a stand it doesn’t justify the costs! Although the PC is losing ground to the tablet and game consoles the PC is still a very cost effective tool for professional users. I would rather buy a PC over the Mac any day of the week!

Take the iPhone 5S, my nephew had to pay £120 upfront and for what??? He could have had a Galaxy S4 or the Note 3 with 4K video recording! My nephew made me laugh when he asked for my Note 2 once the contract has expired! Uh-uh! I can’t wait to see what the Galaxy Note 4 is all about! My nephew could have waited to see what the HTC One 2014 is all about and it’s due in 6 days!

If Apple are going to continue to give such interviews they may as well keep their mouths shut and get down to the business of trying to catch up on the handset front! Oh, not to mention that Android tablet sales continue to eclipse the iPad!

Again, the only innovation that Apple waxes on about is the opening of a new Apple store. Genius! C’mon, Apple! Stop messing around and give the loyal users what they want: A BIGGER SCREEN!

What do you reckon?

Take good care!

APPLE iPHONE 5C & 5S: THE BACKLASH!

Welcome to the Dorkside. May the Dork be with you.
SYNAPSE CIRCUIT
APPLE iPHONE 5C & 5S:
THE BACKLASH!
#Apple #iPhone5S #iPhone5C #iOS7

Good evening, Synapse Circuit Readers! How are you feeling a day after the Apple iPhone launch? Are your eyes dry? Yes, folks... The backlash from the (non) event is rippling as a type...

A PERSONAL BACKLASH?
Yes, a few angry iPhone fans have accused me of being “biased”. For the benefit of my growing audience I will say this (again): Of course I am going to be biased; that’s the nature of competition. Manufacturers, producers and service providers rely upon us to take a biased stance in their favour based on what they are offering. As a consumer we are all biased in that we will buy into what we think is best for us and best overall. However, I would like to think that as a writer I do not get too emotionally involved. It’s important to have a bit of distance to view / review products with an open mind and then give my biased view. My bias is what I think is the best technological advantage, and, of course, you are most welcome to refute my findings. When I write I try not gush as a Fanboy in any particular direction unless I am writing as such.

But I don’t take the backlash against what I have written about the iPhone 5C and 5S personally because I realize that this is the Fanboy’s and Fangirl’s way of demonstrating that they are not happy with what Apple have produced. Yes, they are taking it out on me. What does the Bible say? “Suffer the children?” Lol!

THE REAL DEAL...

5C
As a iPhone fanatic whether you want to admit it or not the 5C did not brighten up everyone’s day. The 5C has failed partly because of the media speculation what with the build up of that promise of a “budget” handset from Apple and we didn’t get it. And it is also down to Apple for failing to understand what the consumer is looking for. MicroNokia took the opportunity to poke a pit of fun at the 5C and grab some publicity for their handsets in the meantime! The 5C colours aren’t as vast as even I would have hoped! As say “even I” because I do think that iPhone fans expected more. I think the Moto X has got it right in terms of customizations for their consumers – so much so that I wish it was available in the UK!

There’s no way that I would want to pay an upfront fee to take out a contract on the thing! It’s just not worth it! I am sorry if it hurts you. I really am! I reckon you wanted what Android consumers are enjoying: FREEDOM OF A GREAT CHOICE!

Hey, you can buy an Android handset outright for £70 and with a front-facing camera! Check out the Huawei Ascend Y300! It has even got Jelly Bean 4.1 installed on it! I really believe that the iPhone 5C could have been powered, ironically, by Google Now – if Siri is out of the question!

5S
C’mon, c’mon... You know that the 5S is a letdown especially where the design is concerned. I honestly feel that Jony Ive is a caged animal in that he cannot flex his design muscles. Ive doesn’t seem fully integrated as part of the launches since goodness knows when. Ive appears like a big empty head via video like the Wizard of OZ!

The 5S is no design at all. Apple is still sticking to their design “hand science” guns and the people at the end of that barrel are their fans! WTF (what the faux)???? What is Apple doing????

FINGERPRINT SCAN
Forget that Motorola had this technology a couple of years or so ago because Apple has! As usual Apple has reinvented again like they did with the reworking of Microsoft’s tablet PC! Apple is all about showmanship when launching their products and I really do believe that they have a hypnotic effect on those who buy into their waffle. Just watch their “keynote” videos and count how many Synonyms are (ab)used per minute! You say it often enough and people will start to believe it and just like my Adorable Friend you’ll just find yourself bursting into an impromptu “Get an iPhone!” exclamation without understanding why. I have never advised anyone to get a Samsung unless asked for my opinion. I find my Adorable Friend can be a pain sometimes – yes, just like religious folk who (unskilfully) suggest that I come to their church and absorb their way of thinking. Lol!

The Touch ID comes at a sensitive time whereby the recent revelation that Apple, BlackBerry, Google and Microsoft were willingly giving away private information via the mobile device to the NSA and other intelligence agencies. I guess there is no need to tell you how paranoid we have become what with insurgence of terrorism around the world. I certainly do not feel 100% safe boarding a bus or London Underground train. In fact I do not feel safe on any form of transportation and I have resigned myself to thinking that when my time is up my time is up. I don’t think it matters whether or not if any information on me or anyone else is recorded by these “intelligence” agencies because technology sure as heck hasn’t done much – if anything – to prevent acts of terror.

However, many – including myself – prefer privacy than the notion that everything that I do on my handset, tablet and PC is being recorded to no real end. It’s rather like someone insisting that they come with me when I am popping out to the store, using the WC, stand behind me while I am preparing my meal and so on. How many people would get used to that after a while? There again I was brought up as a Christian and had to contend with God, The Silent Listener and Observer, is listening and watching everything I do. You’d think that knowing that I would feel comfortable defecating in public for all to see and sniff! Uh-uh! Lol!

I would feel uncomfortable with a fingerprint scanner / reader on any of my Android devices. I would rather wear a ring or manly bracelet that electronically transmits my passwords to my devices instead of using my fingerprint. I wish that Google, Samsung, LG, etc would take the electronic wearable password transmitter option.

I think we have become a more suspicious society. In any event I do not think much of the Touch ID facility on the iPhone.

AS FOR THE 64-BIT ENHANCEMENT...
...I think the notion of a 64-bit handset is a novelty. I think it is a waste of processor and that 32-bits would have taken a greater advantage of the A7 chip. But, hey, what do I know? What I do know is that the new camera isn’t able to shoot 4K video and that Samsung’s Galaxy Note 3 and the Acer Liquid S2 phablets.

Apple and HTC believe that fewer pixels make for a better camera and I am not so sure. From what I have seen in the HTC One produces an overall all round good result in most conditions, but the image size is smaller than that of the Samsung Galaxy S4. I have learned that it is a combination of pixels, lens and flash that make for an optimal picture. Take the Sony Z1 with its 20.7MP camera as an example of a great handset camera! It produces clean, clear and crisp results! It astonishes! I hope to bring you a review very soon!

Then from video we go to audio and I can’t see what 64-bits have done to enhance the audio on the 5S. If you look at the Galaxy Note 3 it is able to utilize 192KHz, 24-bit audio and that makes me salivitate as a musician. There is no doubt in my mind that I must have the Galaxy Note 3! I am so excited at the prospect of making music on the go with the Galaxy Note 3!

Even an iPhone user has asked me about the Galaxy Note 3, Android and TouchWiz! That’s saying something because before the 5C and 5S were announced she was devout. In fact many iPhone users have expressed that they either jumping ship to Android or are seriously thinking about it. If technology is at the heart of your choices then the iPhone does not look very good. I would say that I do like the iMovie and Pages applications on the iPhone. That said, I can get similar apps on the Galaxy Note 2 which I am currently using.

Naturally, whatever you chose the choice is yours.

What do you reckon?

Take good care!

APPLE iPHONE PREDICTION FOR THE 10th SEPT 2013: THE RESULTS!

Out of touch. iOS 7 is coming on the 18th September 2013.

SYNAPSE CIRCUIT
APPLE iPHONE PREDICTION FOR THE 10th SEPT 2013: THE RESULTS!

#Apple #iPhone5S #iPhone5C #iOS7

Good evening, Synapse Circuit Readers! The greatest show on Earth and in the known universe is finally here!

HOW MANY OF MY PREDICTIONS WERE ON POINT? LET’S SEE...

Right: Of course Apple taking sly swipes at the competition was always going to be a sure thing.

Right: The fingerprint scanner, Touch iD, was finally revealed. Again, it is not secure; just fall asleep with your iPhone on show and it’s game over. Just like Android’s face recognition unlocker, Touch iD, is not 100%.

Nearly right: Camera, I got the camera hype right which wasn’t difficult to achieve. However, I got the megapixels wrong. I thought that Apple would follow Samsung and up the ante with a 13MP camera. They know a “secret that HTC and others know...” but if others know it then how is it a secret? No mention of 4K video recording.

Right: I was right about the iPhone 5C and Jony Ives appearing in a video. I didn’t predict low price because I know that what Apple thinks is inexpensive the rest of the world thinks otherwise. I was right that the 5C has cheapened the brand somewhat.

Right: I was right about iOS 7 and the delusional notion that it is the “most” popular mobile operating system in the world. I do not see much innovation going on with iOS 7 as it borrows heavily from Android. I couldn’t have predicted a 64-bit handset and it remains to be seen how it will stack up against the quad-core beasts that are Android based.

Wrong: I was wrong about how Tim Cook and co going on about the “fragmentation” with the “other guys”.

Wrong: Totally wrong about the guest musician(s) appearing towards the end. Elvis Freaking Costello???? Jeez Louise????! Apple raided the cryogenic lab to defrost him.

VERDICT
Truthfully, I can’t see the attraction of both the 5C and 5S. The iPhone screen remains disappointingly small in comparison to what HTC, LG, Samsung and major premium manufacturers have done. Again, if you recall my conversations with my iPhone fanatic Adorable Friend (I don’t name her and that’s why I use capitals like a first and second name) I asked her one thing: “Would you prefer to see a movie at the cinema or on television?” She couldn’t answer! Most people enjoy a great movie on the great big silver cinema screen!

I think the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and its Knox security system far more advanced; it’s more advanced period!

Design: Tell me what does Jony Ives do again? Oh, yes, he’s a designer. You wouldn’t have thought so looking at the 5S and 5C! They are the most boring looking handsets in plastic (oops, I meant polycarbonate) and metal.

With Samsung, LG, Oppo, HTC and so many other manufacturers have shown real design flair and innovation.

I feel so bad for iPhone fans! I can see that there is a 50 / 50 split in that one half have come to terms with the fact that Apple are not the innovators they once were. And the other half are in denial; that’s what shock will do to you! Sure, it’s nice to be the first, the first to announce a 64-bit operating system but what’s the point when the handset is 2-bit?

What do you reckon?

Take good care!

APPLE iPHONE PREDICTION FOR THE 10th SEPT 2013.

SYNAPSE CIRCUIT
APPLE iPHONE PREDICTION FOR THE 10th SEPT 2013.

#Apple #iPhone5S #iPhone5C #iOS7

Good evening, Synapse Circuit Readers! I hope all is with you and that you had a great weekend!

Here’s a question: If Samsung has taken over from Apple as being the most profitable mobile device company then what is the rest of the competition (Google, LG, Huawei, Sony, etc) doing to Apple’s market share?

MY PREDICTION FOR TOMORROW’S iPHONE LAUNCH
I have to admit to looking forward to Apple’s “This should brighten everyone’s day...” product launch. Why? I guess it’s because I enjoy listening to Tim Cook and motley crew’s delusional speeches and general guffaw inducing aggrandising.

“We used to have the most popular handset in the known world. And now we have soon to be the most second popular handset in the world and universe...”

And the rest...

“Introducing the iPhone 5S; now no unauthorized eyes will be able to peek inside your iPhone because we have now placed a fingerprint scanner on your favourite phone in the world! “

Just don’t fall asleep leaving your iPhone exposed, a breach of security is merely a fingerprint away! Perhaps determined phone thieves will get into hacking – hacking your whole hand off! God forbid!

Then...

“Did you know that each day more pictures and videos have been taken on the iPhone each day? Well now you have even more incentive to take pictures and video because the iPhone 5S now features a 13MP camera! Isn’t that fantastic? It’s wonderful and I am sure you’d agree...”

I wonder if that camera will take full HD video at 60 frames per second. Hmmm... I also wonder if the camera will be capable of recording 4K HD video... Hmmm... We’ll see!

But wait! There’s something else...

“And now for what will be the second most popular iPhone in the known galaxy (get it?)... Ladies and gentlemen... I give you... The iPhone 5C! The ‘C’ stands for colourful! We have given the world a whole new pallet of colours. I will now leave you in the capable hands of our awesome designer, Jony Ives...” Applause and cue video...

Video featuring Jony Ives: “The world has become a depressing place to live in. There are horrendous wars happening as you watch this. Racial inequality is still an issue but I had a dream. I had a dream to balance the indifference by introducing colours to the world’s most... ...the galaxy’s most... ...the universe’s most popular handset... ...the iPhone 5C!” Applause!

“It was a challenging design because how does one take what is a revolutionary device and evolve it? But more importantly: How does one give back to the world – especially when one takes advantage of poor working conditions? I lay in bed one night and I couldn’t sleep; then all of a sudden it came to me when I went into the kitchen to grab a handful of Skittles: COLOUR!” More applause!

THE ANNOUNCEMENT OF iOS 7
Yes, indeed... iOS 7 is expected to come in the fall.

“Now for some more news on the most advanced mobile device operating system in the world and know universe, iOS 7!”

But didn’t Apple borrow heavily from...??? Never mind... Here it comes...

“The other guys, despite recently reaching over a billion activations, still have the problem of fragmentation. Tsk, tsk, tsk! The other guys can’t seem to make up their minds over handset specifications... 4”, 4.3”, 4.5”, 4.7”, and 5” and above screens... What’s that about???? Our research shows that 4” is the perfect size for the hand...” Wake up! Lol!

Cook will go on to list the “new” additions to iOS 7 that has been a part of Android for years. At the end of the launch we might get One Direction or Justin Bieber singing a song about colours.

What do you reckon? I can’t wait to see how much the above I have gotten right!

Take good care!

APPLE ANNOUNCES 10 SEPTEMBER DATE: COLORBLIND?

SYNAPSE CIRCUIT
APPLE ANNOUNCES 10 SEPTEMBER DATE

#Apple #iPhone5S #iPhone5C

Good evening, Synapse Circuit Readers! What a beautiful day it was considering it is the beginning of autumn! Shine on! Yes, indeed... Apple is on the trail that Samsung will have blazing come tomorrow...

COLOURFUL
This could be the day when we’ll see the Apple’s true colours (hee hee) as the tagline is, "This should brighten everyone's day."

Sure, the inexpensive iPhone 5C(olour) may appeal to those who are on a budget and dare I say that it might entice users of Android and Windows who would like an second or third handset as an alternative. Perhaps the iPhone 5C could very well take the place of BlackBerry handsets. On my travels I see the BlackBerry being the secondary handset.

Expect super-cheesiness as expressed with the multicoloured iPods released last year. One possible downside is that it may not feature Siri! Oooh! We’ll see...

iPHONE 5S
Hmmmm... To be honest I can’t see any major changes in this device should it turn out to be a reality. It would be very much like the 4S in that the additions will not be major. Perhaps we could see enhancements to the camera. The 5S could sport a 13MP camera capable of 4K video.

I also predict that Siri will be further enhanced to match that of the constantly on Moto X experience.

And everybody knows that iOS 7 borrows heavily from Android – nothing wrong with that. However, Cook did say that “Android should develop their own technology...” Yet Android, in my opinion, is far more advanced that iOS.

Anyway, let’s hope that the September 10 will bring iPhone / iOS fans good if not great news!

COMPETITION
As you know the competition that the iPhone faces is rife! Again, I think that the Android devices released thus so far this year has trounced iOS! Do I really have to go into reasons why? Okay! Alright! You need convincing, huh? You’ve got it...

1. Android 4.2. and 4.3 are superb operating systems that does what you want how you want.

2. There is a vast amount of choice with Android handsets and tablets; so many different sizes, designs, etc.

3. Android is leading in innovation.

Seriously... ...just last week I met a guy in a phone shop who turned to me and said, “This (pointing at the Samsung Galaxy S4 mini) is my next phone. I am done with the iPhone. The iPhone is behind the times...” Me? I would have gone for the S4! Each to his or her own...

I do think that the Galaxy Note 3 is going to do some major damage to the handset market in more ways than the iPhone 5C ever could. When you put the 5C in context it is just a cut down version of the real thing. I do not see what is attractive about having a cut down in many colours encased in plastic. I’d prefer the real thing.

Apple using plastic on their 5C reinforces that Samsung and other manufacturers have got it right when it comes to using plastic on their premium handsets. I really hope that doesn’t change. However, I think that Apple is using the plastic in a manner as if to say, “Plastic is good enough for a cut down version of our top handset and we, unlike, others would never use it on a premium device...” I think this is going to backfire on Apple because the premium iPhone is really too prissy by today’s Android and Windows standards; a well worn iPhone looks anything but premium. Whereas a lot of the Android handsets, on the whole, look pristine in comparison!

I do think that Apple needs to rethink their notion of luxury for plastic materials as it would enhance durability and the consumer will have more options than black and white.

We’ll see! Roll on 10 September 2013!

What do you reckon?

Take good care!
