iPHONE TO SAMSUNG AND ANDROID CONVERT SYNAPSE CIRCUIT

SYNAPSE CIRCUIT
iPHONE 6 / 6 PLUS DUMPED FOR SAMSUNG MODELS - INCLUDING GALAXY S6 & S6 EDGE

Hi there, Synapse Circuit Readers! Goodhour to you! I hope you're well and that spring has finally sprung where you are! Earlier on I had my mind blown by a revolutionary piece of software... More about this later!

Y’know, I wouldn't blame you for wishing to trade in your iPhone for a Samsung or any other Android phone as you're buying into technology and not the clinical / cynical pretense of technology working away seamlessly behind a fashion brand.

#iPhone6Fail #Android #GalaxyNote4 #GalaxyS6 #GalaxyS6Edge

As you can see, I'm continuing to document iPhone 6 / 6 Plus trade-ins and that this phenomena shows no sign of abating now that the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge are coming to the shelves on the 10th April!

Today I witnessed yet another computer exchange shop with the recent iPhone 6 / 6 Plus populating the shop window.

Later on I saw a former iPhone user upgrading to the Galaxy Note 4 in a Samsung retail outlet in Central London's Oxford St. "Samsung does technology better than Apple; I'm getting the Galaxy Note 4 over the iPhone 6 Plus because it's better and I'm also getting the Gear VR to go with it. Apple are a joke," says the disgruntled former iPhone user.

There you have it! Photos taken with the Galaxy S4.

Thank you for reading Synapse Circuit!

SAMSUNG SOUNDCAMP REVIEW SYNAPSE CIRCUIT

Above: The acoustic drum kit can be swapped out for 3 electronic kits. I wish there were more kits and more to a kit i.e. 16 percussion instruments instead of 8 (as shown).
SYNAPSE CIRCUIT
SAMSUNG SOUNDCAMP REVIEW

Goodhour, Synapse Circuit Readers! How goes it? I hope that all is well with you and yours! I also hope that there are no glitches in your tech!

That’s right, you read it correctly: ‘Soundcamp’. No, I’m not referring to my light lisp. Soundcamp is a digital audio workstation (DAW) for the composition of music. The only catch, at the moment, is that Soundcamp is only available on the Samsung Galaxy Note 4. It has taken me a little while to take a proper look and now I can let you know what I think... Read on!

#Samsung #Soundcamp #GalaxyNote4 #GalaxyS6 #GalaxySEdge #GalaxyS6Edge

UNDERSTATED
It’s funny... ...yesterday I wrote a piece on Samsung’s ability to market its products. Soundcamp is one aspect of Samsung that is shouting out for a bit of exposure. I have feeling why that Samsung is keeping Soundcamp on the down-low (these odd street expressions).

THE BAD-ISH NEWS
Apart from being an application that can be, for now, found solely on the Galaxy Note 4, the Soundcamp interface works backwards to the way I (and most computer musicians) compose. What I mean by this is that you have to record manual playing on a selected instrument such as the Keyboard, Drum, Heat Synthesizer and a few other instruments. So, you hit the ‘record’ icon on the instrument interface and you play away – if you have manual dexterity. I do not! From there you can go to the track interface and double click on the ‘recording’ produced. In case you aren’t familiar with how a DAW works what is usually recorded is note information (MIDI). Therefore you can go into the track and edit the note placement which is quite easy to do. Oh, you can add an Audio Track too!

Above: Shows the recording of my inept manual playing on the Drums (and Keyboard) interface(s). Then by going to the Tracks part of the interface I double click on a track and then can edit the beats (in the instance of the Drum recordings). Using the Keyboard you are then presented, naturally, with keys that correspond to the notes of the piano keys played. Of course, you can then change the key / notes to suit when editing.

You can also edit the velocity of a note or beat. As you can see you can change the intervals i.e. 1/8, 1/16 and so on. It works very, very well as a DAW (digital audio workstation). One of the best interfaces I have seen on an Android app that is very close to what you get on a PC or Mac.

Above: Save your projects and go back and edit to completion.

What I would prefer is to be presented with a few empty tracks and to add instruments as and when; upon adding an instrument the MIDI Editor pops up so that I can input notes / beats in step time. And I would like to also to double click on a bar measure, fill it with notes / beats and extend the bar to as many bars as I wish or to double click on a bar anywhere on the track and be able to keep the tracks separate from other edits within the same track.

The next thing I would like is to be able to add at the very least 16 instruments and at the most as many as the CPU can take! You can only add up to 6 instruments at a time which is still pretty good.

Compared to other DAWs currently available for Android Soundcamp could do with a little reworking.

PRO AUDIO & INSTRUMENTATION
Another thing that Samsung keeps quiet (no pun intended) is that it has a professional audio system that allows for USB audio devices to be connected and to keep latency to a minimum. I would like to see Samsung do ads that showcase the strong audio capabilities.

You can download free and paid for instruments. You get a free version of AmpliTube effects unit to enhance tracks. There’s a version of AmplitTube that you pay for that extends the capabilities and that will cost you £13.99! AmpliTube is by IK Multimedia and is renowned for professional software and hardware on the PC, Mac, iOS and now Android. You can purchase an iRig HD guitar interface to connect your guitar or bass for direct recording into the Soundcamp and other compatible DAWs. Also check out iRig Recorder for recording vocals, etc. There’s also a microphone that fits into the headphone jack for a more professional recording. You also get EZ Voice from IK Multimedia made specifically for recording vocals.

Above: The Galaxy App Store showcasing other apps to download for use with Soundcamp. Some of these applications will only work with Soundcamp.

There’s also a guitar app, Guitarism – Pocket Guitar by Rhism LLC that costs £3.27 that adds acoustic and electric guitars.

VERDICT
I would say that Soundcamp has great potential; it is usable once you get to know how it works. A musician with manual dexterity i.e. he or she can play an instrument or used to playing into a virtual instrument interface will find it immediate. But those, like me, who prefers step-time input can work with it but would like to be presented with the MIDI Editor in the first instance.

I hope Samsung continues to develop this brilliant application and possibly add support for VST instruments and effects – that would be something! VST stands for virtual studio technology which has been created and developed by Steinberg of the famous PC DAW, Cubase! Anything is possible!

I would advise the Samsung developers to take a look at something like Caustic 3 for Android, iOS and PC by Single Cell Software to get an idea of how excellent a music interface can be. I would like to see a mastering suite of effects such as a compressor, stereo enhancer and so on.

Soundcamp has a great looking GUI (graphical user interface) that mimics the recording studio environment very nicely! Just look at the image above!

Samsung are on to a winner!

SCORE
3 / 5
A SYNAPSE CIRCUIT SOLID SILVER

With a bit more development Soundcamp can be another unique selling point for the Galaxy Note 4 and other premium Galaxy handsets – hopefully! I am also hoping that Soundcamp will be also available for the forthcoming Galaxy S6 & S6 Edge. Roll on, Samsung!

SYNAPSE CIRCUIT GALAXY NOTE 4 REVIEW

SYNAPSE CIRCUIT

SAMSUNG GALAXY NOTE 4, THE SYNAPSE CIRCUIT REVIEW

#Samsung #GalaxyNote4 #Phablet #TouchWiz #Android

Goodhour, Synapse Circuit Readers! It’s so good to see you again! What’s been happening?

Are you thinking of getting a new handset for Christmas? Read on...

FORGET THE iPHONE 6 PLUS!

WHAT A STINKER!
Honestly, the iPhone 6 Plus isn’t even in the same league as the Samsung Galaxy Note 4! But, hey! This review is not going to waste time to compare the two as there is no point. As I have said before: Apple has its market and Samsung / Android has its market too! I don’t own a Mac so the iPhone, iPad, etc is irrelevant for me.

GALAXY NOTE 4, 32GB. PRICE: £599.95
CHECK OUT YOUR NETWORK OF CHOICE FOR RENTAL PRICES!

Why do I keep making the same mistake with Samsung premium handsets? What I mean is that whenever they launch a new handset such as the Alpha range through the media the overall look and feel inspires, “Another Samsung handset...” However, it’s not until you get the phone in your hands you can actually appreciate the difference! It’s the same with the Galaxy Note 4... ...in the hands the Galaxy Note 4 is PURE CLASS!!!! It is the BEST handset in its league!!! The metal edge does make a difference!!! Okay, I still love my Galaxy Note 2 but the Note 4 is something else! It’s slimmer, solid and, er, sweet! The 5.7” QHD screen is sublime! What I am extremely happy about is that I don’t have to write loads of text for you to understand just what you are getting with this handset...

IN USE: GENERAL
Perfection! The build and form is simply superb! The Galaxy Note 3 was pretty badass but 4... Mmmmmm... Delicious! One of my little gripes with Samsung’s premium handsets is that they feel like a bar of soap: SLIPPERY!!! I found that a protective cover adds more stability – especially when taking photos! The battery cover on the Galaxy Note 4 is just how it should be! It is rubberized and of course it comes off so that I can add up to 128GB of microSD card and swap out the battery for a fully charged one! The good news is that the battery does charge rapidly – 50% in 30 minutes! Sweet! I have always said that this is what makes the Samsung Galaxy range so special: Removable battery and now rapid charging!

The biggest misconception is that the TouchWiz interface is “confusing”. WRONG!!! You would have to be a complete moron to not understand how to interface with the TouchWiz overlay. Contrary to the ideology that pure Android is best, TouchWiz allows the handset to do a lot more i.e. multiple app windows, the S Pen, the Air functionality! Again, this is not a point scoring comparison review with the iPhone 6 Plus but the Galaxy Note series – especially 4 (and the Galaxy S4 onwards) makes the iPhone concept dated in the extreme! The Air Command features function via the S Pen! I love the way you can swipe the screen with the side of the hand (like a Karate chop) to capture whatever is on the screen!

PLEASE: DO NOT BELIEVE THE CRAP ABOUT TOUCHWIZ BEING COMPLICATED!

Look, if you are thinking about jumping ship from the iPhone you will be forgiven to think that the Galaxy Note 4 is limited but it is far from it! Don’t get me wrong... ...the iPhone is a very good phone and, again, it serves those who have a Mac computer but the Galaxy Note 4 is quite frankly beyond the superlative. The Galaxy Note 4 IS A COMPUTER! You do not need to touch your PC for days – if need be! You can perform all kinds of tasks on the Galaxy Note 4 that can serve both the PC and Mac! Whereas the iPhone locks you into its ecosystem; I don’t think that is good. But because most Apple folk live in a bubble – I do speak from experience as I have had to educate many Apple folk on what Android and the Galaxy handsets in particular can do – they don’t have much of a clue on what is outside that ecosystem! Sure, they are blessed with a good range of apps but Android has more or less caught up! I can’t deny that there are a few components missing but it is certainly getting there! I don’t find myself looking over the shoulder of an iPhone user with envy. If anything I watch how they interface with the handset and for the most part it, iOS, serves a purpose. That said, the combination of TouchWiz and Android is awe inspiring!

I know all about getting a new phone and wanting to interface with it straightaway... ...Apple has marketed the iPhone in a clever way that has backfired for more demanding users and seen as positive by non-technical users. However, just because there is more to the Galaxy Note 4 doesn’t make it complicated. NO! When you want use the Galaxy Note 4 as a creative and / or business productivity machine that scope IS there! I almost fell of my chair laughing when Apple showed off the iPhone 6 Plus, “Look! It even has a landscape mode...” C’mon.... Hahahahaha!

It is down to you how you use your Galaxy Note 4! The beautiful thing about the Internet is that there is a plethora of resources whereby one can find tutorials on the more advanced functions of the Galaxy Note 4; you will be relieved to see just how easy it is!

Another misconception is that the fingerprint scanner isn’t as responsive as it is on the iPhone... WRONG!!! I will tell you why!

First of all the fingerprint scanner on the iPhone isn’t perfect and is known to have problems. However, when it does work don’t you find that it is too easy???? Check this scenario:

Scenario: Sleeping
You have fallen asleep on the couch, for arguments sake, with your iPhone in sight; anyone can access your iPhone with one “flawless” touch!

Whereas on the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 (and Galaxy S5) you have to use a swiping motion of the finger to unlock the phone! Now I doubt that I would remain asleep if someone tried to swipe my finger in such a motion on the Galaxy Note 4! Maybe after a few celebratory drinks (hee hee) but it is highly unlikely that I’d remain asleep if someone tried to unlock my phone with my own finger! Obviously, I prefer the Samsung security method! And, of course, I can also place a password in the event of a fingerprint scanner fail. It’s no big deal!

IN USE: CAMERA
The 16MP camera is fantastic! If you have ever used a standalone digital camera you will find a great range of functionality as and when you need it. Yet another misconception is that the camera functionality is “difficult”. NO!! The modes are so easy to understand that a child could do it!

The picture and video quality is outstanding but you are limited to 5 minutes of 4K video recording. Some may see 5 minutes at a time 4K cumbersome but it does use up a lot of bytes to store the footage! I would imagine that this could change with a software update but it shouldn’t be an issue – well, hopefully not should you choose to go for the Galaxy Note 4!

But I do love the camera as it is more responsive than the already excellent Galaxy Note 2 camera! I am very happy with the Galaxy Note 4 16MP camera!

CONCLUSION
The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is in a class of its own and I think that this is why the Galaxy S5 sales have been disappointing. I look at my Galaxy S4 and I think to myself, ‘Should I go for the S6 when it is released or should I go for the Galaxy Note Edge or even another Note 4? Maybe I go for something else (other than Samsung – oooh)?’ The Galaxy S4 - and to some degree the S5 – seems so small. The wonderful form that the Galaxy Note 4 takes makes it so much easier to handle. Now I have fairly large hands and I can operate it mostly with one hand unlike the Galaxy Note 2! I have noticed that a lot of women have a Galaxy Note 4 and to me this signifies that size is not an issue! Hahaha! It is common knowledge that bigger is better! Hahahaha! Yes, I have seen a couple of women with the iPhone 6 Plus and, at least to me, it doesn’t look like a handset for adults. The Galaxy Note 4 is near flawless! It’s big without being cumbersome and has a tremendous amount of power to be had when it is required. I would like to see a future design that features an in your face front-facing stereo speakers! C’mon, it’s not rocket science to be able to make and take a phone call on it. But when you are ready to do business, to be creative to enjoy multimedia the Galaxy Note 4 is not going to disappoint!

I found that there was no lag that is usually attributed to TouchWiz being layered over Android. I would imagine that any lag comes as a result of many windows opened at one time. It’s not something that I do per se. Like a desktop / laptop computer you may find that once in a while you have to remember to close CPU intensive apps and possibly reboot. But I have to say that the Galaxy Note 4 is a solid performer!

The Galaxy Note 4 is so versatile that you would not believe! This is the handset that I had wanted all those years ago when I used to do interviews with musicians. I think that this is the journalist’s best friend because of the directional voice recording function that uses 3 mics!

It’s also for serious musicians too! Despite the lack of a set of front-facing stereo speakers it is still loud enough to make music with!

Make no mistake the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is in a league of its own! I am very happy to be the proud owner of the Galaxy Note 4 and I am going to get great usage out of it too!

SCORE: PLATINUM
It’s all there... 5.7” quad HD screen that is the best I’ve seen; superfast 2.7GHz quad core Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ 805 processor; 3GB RAM and 16MP camera with optical stabilization! To me the fingerprint scanner is a welcome extra!

I am curious as to how Lollipop, Android 5 will add to what is the best handset in the world! I believe that is coming in the early New Year! I have understood it is coming in January but I have also heard rumours that it is coming later this month! It remains to be seen as the near vanilla Moto G 2014 hasn’t received its Lollipop yet!

Yes, I know that I said that I wasn’t going to make this review a direct comparison to the ridiculously expensive iPhone 6 Plus but you can’t replace the battery, we get 32GB of storage and we can increase the storage by up to 128GB! What is there not to love? Take a tissue or handkerchief out before you look at the spec in further detail below... You will have to catch your drool!

Oh, and another thing... The Galaxy Note 4 is compatible with audio hardware if you are thinking about making music with it!

SYNAPSE CIRCUIT APPLE TALK 11 KEEP CALM iPHONE 6 AND iPAD AIR

CEX CHANGE: iPhone 6 and Plus.
SYNAPSE CIRCUIT
APPLE TALK 11:

APPLE...
...
KEEP CALM AND CARRY ON!

What’s going on with Apple? Goodhour, Synapse Circuit Readers! I hope that all is well with you and that you are making great progress with your projects! Send me a link via G+! I am very interested in what you are doing!

Do you know what to make of Apple these days? Me? I am not so sure... I know, I know... ...you as an Apple fanatic is thinking, ‘Let the Apple bashing begin...’ But I can honestly say that I don’t get Apple at all. Here are my latest thoughts on Apple...

#Apple #Samsung #Google #SteveJobs #TimCook #iPhone6 #iPhone6Phablet #iPhone6Plus #AppleWatch #GalaxyNote4 #GalaxyAlpha #GalaxyNoteEdge #GalaxyTabS #Nexus9 #iPadAir2 #iPadMini3

PRETENCE?
As someone who appreciates technology I can see that the latest iPhones aren’t as advanced as expected. As someone who appreciates design I can see that the iPhones aren’t exciting where design is concerned. Believe it or not I am always looking for a reason to buy into other competing technologies outside of Android and I’ve yet to see an iPhone, BlackBerry and Windows handset that make me say, “I must have this!” One of the Nokia Windows handsets almost had me there!

I UNDERSTAND...
Yes, as an Apple fan I expect you to upgrade your iPhone despite the lack of advancement – barring the 64-bit processor – that is prevalent upon the Android platform. C’mon, whether you hate (and ‘hate’ is a strong word) Android and the various manufacturers you have to admit – at least to yourself – that Android handsets and tablets are better designed and the technology is constantly getting better what with 64-bit processors coming to Android devices this year notably the Google Nexus 9 tablet manufactured by HTC! Just looking at the high-end Android devices from Samsung, Motorola, LG, HTC, Huawei, etc you can see instantly that so much work as been put into the design of such great handsets:-

Galaxy Note 4
Nexus 6
Moto X 2014
Ascend Mate 2
G3
One M8

BUT IF YOU HAVEN’T BOUGHT INTO APPLE...
In other words you don’t have a MAC computer and you want to own what is arguably the “best” easy to use smartphone in the world and you’ve opted for the iPhone 6 range. Upon closer inspection you notice some discrepancies that you can’t tolerate and that’s why you’ve gotten rid of it. Discrepancies such as the cheap feel of the build – it doesn’t look or feel “premium” and the problems that have come with iOS 8.

UNPRECEDENTED
These are austere times and we can forget this fact upon the release of a new device. We quickly jump on the bandwagon and it quickly becomes apparent it’s a device one can do without, so it’s ‘Hello pawnshop’! And, of course, we sometimes purchase a device only to discover that it’s a disappointment.

However, it is unprecedented that there are so many iPhone 6 and Plus models in the Computer Exchange stores in London. A few weeks ago I got a shock to see so many on display! Only days after the iPhone 6 models were available in the Apple stores many of them have ended up in these secondhand / pawn shops!

What’s going on? When I read and watch the reviews on the iPhone 6 models the reviewers seem less than satisfied with the overall experience. Reviewers all seem to be saying that the best improvement is the battery, camera and media consumption on the bigger screen. And when the iPhone 6 Plus is compared to the Galaxy Note 4 many reviewers foolishly state that the multi-screen functions is “difficult” compared to the simplicity of the way the iPhone works. Seriously! What was the point in such reviews? The Galaxy Note 4 is so very easy to operate that you must have had a lobotomy to not be able to figure it out! These so called reviewers mask out the negatives of the iPhone 6 models by creating problems that do not exist with the competition i.e. (the aforementioned) Galaxy Note 4. Sure, when it comes to the quality of the iPhone 6 camera it may still hold its own against the premium Android handsets but in some of the tests that I have seen the reviewer doesn’t appear to have used the camera functions / settings on the competing handsets beyond HDR. Again, the iPhone biased reviewers concentrate on the iPhone 6 and Plus cameras to mask the fact that the competing Android handsets have more to offer all-round! For example, the S Pen on the Galaxy Note 4 makes it one of the most versatile handsets on the planet! The Galaxy Note 4 goes beyond being “big”.

iPAD UP IN THE AIR
Just last week Apple announced the iPad Air 2, iPad mini 3 and the iMac with the 5K Retina display! I can understand why Apple felt the need to whack a whopping 5K on its new iMac because “Retina” had lost its value where the Android premium handsets and tablets are concerned; a 5K screen is one way to try and revive the Retina concept.

The notion of “Retina” on the iPad mini 3 seems like a waste of time as does the iPad Air 2 for the simple fact that the iPad has lost its commercial appeal; people aren’t in a hurry to replace their old iPad models because it’s not necessary. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it! The latest iPads doesn’t bring anything vital to the proceedings! This is one reason why the iPad market is in decline.

Other reasons for the iPad tanking is that it cannot compete with many ranges of Android tablets on the market today – some of which offers 4G LTE at such an affordable price! Some 7” Android 4G / 3G enabled tablets allows you to make and receive phone calls! Gosh!

And for the Apple fanatic, the iPhone 6 Plus will certainly eat into iPad sales! I would imagine that the money saved will go towards the iMac! It makes sense to me!

Then when you look at the overseas emerging markets i.e. Third World countries the iPad just isn’t cost effective and loses out to Chromebooks and cost effective Android tablets!

It remains to be seen if the iPad will find a new lease of life as a business accessory as some of the Android tablets have.

There you go!

That’s something to think about!

SYNAPSE CIRCUIT SAMSUNG TALK 10 THE BEAUTY OF THE BEAST

C'mon... Seriously... Get REAL!!!

SAMSUNG TALK 10:
THE BEAUTY OF THE BEAST

Goodhour, Synapse Circuit Readers. Are you feeling tip top? I sure hope that you are on the very best of your game and making the most of your tech! I encourage you to be independent with your creative endeavours!

Now that the wheels have fallen off the iPhone 6 Plus will the Galaxy Note 4 be an option for the disappointed?

BETTER BY DESIGN

iPHONE 6 PLUS FIRST IMPRESSIONS
I recently thought I’d take a look to see what the fuss is about for myself and took a look at the iPhone 6 Plus (and standard) last weekend! When I clapped eyes on the white model on display I quickly understood why the black one is featured predominately in the promotional material. Good Friends, if you haven’t seen the iPhone 6 Plus I have to say that it looks super-bland! I can’t put it in any other way! The next thoughts that entered my head were, “Gosh! This feels flimsy! If this is what iPhone fanatics call ‘premium’ they are sadly mistaken! It doesn’t have a patch on the Galaxy Note 3 and the soon to hit the market Galaxy Note 4 & Edge!” Hmmmm, “It feels more plastic than the cheapest Android handset in my humble opinion!”

It’s funny that when “flimsy” entered my mind a few days later we see that the iPhone 6 Plus has a design flaw: it bends! I guess one could say that my iPhone fanatic detractors are eating humble pie! I never wavered from my point of view that the iPhone is not the “premium” handset as these people would like to have you believe. If I were an iPhone fan looking to share in what Android users have been experiencing for years:-

1. Large crisp displays – now QHD!

2. External storage options.

3. And, of course, Android!

I’d be very, very disappointed!

VERDICT
No, Apple! NO!!! The iPhone 6 Plus is uninspired and fragile; in a bid to be the thinnest the aluminium has become likened to baking / cooking foil! It is not even in the league of the first Galaxy Note! Uh-uh! The iPhone 6 Plus reminds me of the Acer Liquid S1 – big and somewhat awkward!

As always I am finding it hard to believe that Apple has sold yet another “record” 10 million odd units! And you know what? I am not being mean to Apple and iPhone fans! I actually feel quite sorry for those who have been looking forward to something quite substantial other than being bigger! Again, there is more to a “premium” phablet than being big! The design must be solid and the functionality ought to offer users many options to increase productivity!

The iPhone 6 Plus should have been constructed from a sturdier material or thicker and include a removable battery. I envisage a situation whereby a serious user will run out of battery with concentrated use. Apple would have done well to have an external power pack as an optional extra. iPhone 6 Plus users will be still looking over the shoulders of the Samsung Galaxy Note user – especially version 4 due to the QHD screen and the S Pen!

THE GALAXY NOTE 4 & EDGE
Just by looking at the two handsets, the Galaxy Note 4 and iPhone 6 Plus, you can see which one is the better designed. Again, this is not me being “anti-Apple” as so many accuse me of being but pointing out what should be patently obvious.

There are two distinct and major camps (outside other mobile device operating systems): Android & iOS. Although I can see advantages in Android and the Galaxy Note 4 I reckon so many iPhone users, like Apple, have boxed themselves into a corner whereby they feel obligated to say, “Android? Samsung? No way!” However, the difference between Apple and Google is that Google offer cross-platform applications and try to make productivity seamless between the different platforms. Android makes it possible to be neutral towards MAC and PC so that many of its productivity applications can be outputted to a file format that these personal computer platforms can understand like MIDI for music composers; PDF for writers / journalists, etc. And because the Galaxy Note 4 has such a phenomenal functionality it has the capability to appeal to the disappointed iPhone 6 Plus users that have demanded their money back!

BIG, BIG LOVE?
If you are still looking for some gigantic big, big love you ought to give the Galaxy Note 4 a try! I know that his is going to be my next handset and I am very much looking forward to it! Mmmmm... Man and machine in perfect harmony!

Things to think about...

Goodhour, Synapse Circuit Readers! As always, I hope that is well with you and that all is going just how you want it to be – if not better! Golly!

Hmmmm... I tell ya... The so called tech media goes crazy... CRAZY!!!! Yes, whenever Apple releases an iPhone the tech media does its utmost to pull the wool over our eyes! Gee whiz!

#Android #Google #Apple #Samsung #Google #SteveJobs #SteveWozniak #GoodSteveWozniak #TimCook #iPhone6 #iPhone6Phablet #iPhone6Plus #AppleWatch #GalaxyNote4 #GalaxyAlpha #GalaxyNoteEdge

OH, PURLEEEEASE!
The latest and most comical headline I’ve read so far goes like this, “Android users are deserting in droves ahead of iPhone 6 launch, trade-ins up 200%...”

And guess what? “Samsung trade-ins have tripled this week...” Really?! What a coincidence! Let’s put it in context: Intelligent Samsung user owners are trading in non-descript handsets for the pieces of technological junk that is the iPhone 6 & 6L???? NO!!! Android users, mainly Samsung users, were just waiting for Apple to bring out a large screen??? Okay... That, er, makes a lot of sense... NOT!!!

As good as the iPhone is there’s no way I would trade my Galaxy S2, S4 and Note 2 for the recent models! What would I do with the iPhone 6 that I don’t already do with my Android handsets? I am extremely happy with Android and I do not see a reason to jump ship! Sure, I realize that I am only speaking for myself and my thoughts do not amount to the Android collective – ex-amount of billions of Android users around the world. The S Pen on the Galaxy Note 2 is simply divine! And if you’ve been following my articles you know that I have got the Galaxy Note Edge in my sights! Gotta have it! Simple as! The innards easily blow the iPhone 6 and 6L out of the water and into evaporation! The QHD screen on the Galaxy Note 4 and Edge is worth it alone! A QHD screen is going to require some great supportive hardware to make it all worthwhile! There is no way that I believe that and all the iPhone 6 related headlines. Apple’s PR machine is a beast – if you are susceptible to the nonsense! I guess that Apple thinks by putting out such disinformation people will lose their marbles and join in the hoards of Android deserters defecting to iOS! Hmmmm...

ANDROID L
No doubt you have read or heard about Cook’s pledge to keep iOS users’ privacy safe but to me that just a feeble attempt to put Android users off. Google have responded by stating that the forthcoming “L” – I suspect it’s Lemon Meringue Pie – will feature encryption by default! Hurrah! It’s to be expected that Google would defend Android but if the operating system is so flawed then why is it the most popular mobile operating system in the world? Besides there are good protection apps available on Android to boost security: Avast, AVG and a few others. And that brings me to the subject of “malware”... I will get to malware in a bit...

Considering that Android L is around the corner there is no way that I would jump ship before giving it (Android 5) a try! I can’t begin to convey my excitement over the new and improved 64-bit Android 5! Whatever it will be called it’s going to be superlative! 64-bit devices have started to enter the marketplace! C’mon, who wouldn’t want to experience Android at its best?

Recently I purchased what I call a “phablet” – a 7” 4G enabled tablet and I was and still am impressed by how fluid it is! I will bring you the review soon – even though this tablet has been on the market for some time now. That said, I haven’t seen a proper review on it. I will do my best to hit you right between the eyes with a thorough review! Coming soon...

When the iOS fan boys ‘n’ girls keep going on about this “lag” on Android some of us – including me – keep expecting to experience this lag but these days lag is not an issue! Okay, I was taken in to purchase a Motorola RAZRi and it is quite laggy but not disturbingly so! I ought to look on the CyanogenMod site to see if there is a ROM for it... I digressed a little – as I sometimes do! But the gist – if you haven’t clocked it – is that a majority of iPhone / iOS users haven’t tried out the latest premium Android handsets to understand how redundant “lag” is today! The LG G3 is stunning and it doesn’t lag at all! And it’s the same with my Galaxy S4 and Note 2... No lag! And this phablet / tablet that I mentioned earlier is great! And what’s more it’s MINE!!! Review coming soon!

MALWARE... WHAT MALWARE???
Yes, it’s the new iPhone season and you can expect a more concentrated effort for the so called tech media to hype up the subject of “malware” on Android. Malware and lately “ransom-ware” is “rife” on Android. Golly jeepers! Hang on... Can you smell it too? That’s right: whenever the subject of “malware” and “ransom-ware” comes up no, er, ahem, <cough> journalist cares to list these calamities masquerading as Android apps!

When the occasional flame erupts between iOS and Android what tends to happen is that iOS device owners bore you to death with this “premium” idea as though it’s only unique to Apple and when you point out to them that the “premium” materials that make up the iPhone is prone to damage easily the subject then goes on to “lagging” issues... From there they then go over to “malware”, etc. And you say, “Oh, yeah? List the malware masquerading as apps?” What happens? No response! You know... I will use one of my old handsets as a means to purposely see if I can download this “malware”. I am looking forward to this experiment!

APPLE’S RACKET SCIENCE
I read a headline: Cook takes Google’s model apart in a paragraph (or two)! Basically, Tim Cook goes on about the issue of privacy and how Google will scan emails, for example, to find keywords that will deliver ads straight to the user and how the users are the “commodity”. But Google never made this a secret! Google have announced its intentions and I don’t mind at all! It’s not as if people are sitting there spying on my email! Plus I use Gmail mainly for business communications. Not only that, Edward Snowden cannot return to the USA because he let it be known that Apple, Google and Microsoft, etc have complied with Intelligent Agencies spying on the digital output from mobile devices and computers. What did Eric Schmidt say? “If you are doing something that you shouldn’t be doing then maybe you shouldn’t be doing it...” That’s an indication, to me at least, that we are being spied upon! If I wrote a keyword that is associated with a breach of national / international security within an email, blog, etc then a computer algorithm will flag it for investigation. I can live with that as I would imagine and certainly hope that such flags can prevent horrendous acts of terror! But I am not convinced about anything Tim Cook says regarding privacy; he, at the end of the day, is a salesman and he wants you to buy an iPhone 6 or 6L.

I have summed up Apple’s business model in one word ‘exploitation’. He’s taking you for a mug in that he can put out a couple of lacklustre handsets and make people pay over the odds for them! Hey, if that’s what you want to do it is your money! Well, it’s Apple’s money to be precise!

As you know, what Apple is good at is hijacking the ideas of others and claiming it as its own. It’s done that with the development of iOS and interactive notifications and now bigger screens and NFC payments. Look at all the (thou protesteth too much) unwillingness to give the iPhone a bigger screen with all the “science” behind the decision until now! Look at how contradictory that is! Look at how contradictory it is to have McDonald’s in its Apple Pay scheme when there is a focus on health! It’s laughable!

Siri: You have exceeded your Big Mac quota for today. Purchases at McDonald’s will be unavailable today. I suggest that you walk home...

It is possible that the Apple Pay NFC payment revolution might just roll off the Tech Didn’t Work Out cliff and turn to dust. There is a reason why NFC payments haven’t exactly taken off! Here in the UK we can touch our handsets on the London Underground to pay for our train fare. Given the fact that there is more chance of dropping the handset or having someone snatching it from your hands it is not very practical. NFC is great for transferring files to others with the capability!

Then the Apple Racket Science is aided and abetted by these so called tech media... ...oh my goodness... The idiotic reviews that I have seen on the iPhone 6 & 6L in comparison to Samsung handsets beggars belief! It’s madness! MADNESS, I TELL YOU!!! Muhahahaha!

The reviews are so, so stupid it is unreal... In one review the “reviewer” (sic) is stating how the Galaxy Alpha’s metal edge “cuts the users fingers off”! What??? And how “wonderful the iPhone design is” in comparison to the Galaxy Alpha... Uh-uh... “The back of the Galaxy Alpha is made of 80s recycled plastic gadgets...” I am paraphrasing but I am not far off! But nothing can be further from the truth! The fact is that I have held the Galaxy Alpha in my hands and I have to admit that I was pleasantly surprised at how good it looked and felt! The reviewer went on to say how much the battery has improved with the iPhone 6 and everyone knows that a fresh battery is like a newlywed; give it some time and you will see how the life drains out of it in everyday use! Maybe I shouldn’t have used the “newlywed” analogy but you get what I mean. Every battery is like that – including that of Android devices! But I know that Samsung handsets feature a removable battery and that is a boon unlike the fixed battery of the iPhone!

Now Steve Wozniak has gotten in on the act by saying that he has ditched his “beloved” Android handsets for the bigger iPhone 6 screen! Hahaha! Wow, things must be bad if Apple have to rope in the Good Steve to sell it! The 6L is in danger of failing sales targets for the reason that many iPhone users prefer a smaller screen! Young women seem to love the small iPhone form as it can slip into a front or back pocket without the danger of causing the thing to break upon sitting down! That said, the amount of times I’ve had to tell a young lady that she’s in danger of losing her phone out of her back pocket... The movement of the buttocks pushes the iPhone to the top where it can easily fall out or be stolen in a crowded situation.

It’s not just about bigger screens... Another reviewer says that even though the iPhone 6L screen is “not as sharp or bright as the LG G3 or the Galaxy Note 4 and Edge it’s still a good screen...” Hahahaha! He or she went on to say, “...the 6L enables me to get work down without resorting to any of the many computers...” at his or her disposal. OK, so that tells me that all the hype about the smaller 3.5” and 4” iPhone was exactly that: HYPE!!! I can tell you that as an Android user there are days when I don’t turn on my PC because I am able to get my work done on my Android handsets with ease! So much so that I don’t think about it! The reviewer wasn’t finished...

“The Galaxy Note split screen is just a gimmick; the 6L screen is nice and big which cuts out the need for the iPad...”

WOW!!! Can you believe that nonsense above??? The Galaxy Note 3 (and the upcoming 4 and Edge) split screen is far from being a “gimmick”! Imagine cutting out an image from a website and dragging it into the email app and emailing the picture! Oh, what’s the matter? You can’t imagine it? That’s because you are not using the Galaxy Note! Simple!

No doubt iPhone users will enjoy the 6L screen and in turn become more productive without resorting to a computer and the need for the iPad will die a death (as predicted). Even so the 6L is no match for the Galaxy Note 3 let alone the latest versions, 4 & Edge when it comes to productivity!

What I have gleaned from those, er... ...”reviewers” / propaganda creators is that the Samsung products are superior because they have to write around the iPhone shortfalls (they are making do) and blatantly dismiss the great advantages that can be had from the Galaxy Note and Galaxy handsets in general. This is definitely not journalism. Such words cannot be taken seriously by the consumer.

There is a reason why Apple shares went down in value after the Samsung reveal and that’s because they have put out superior products whether you like it or not!

That’s something to think about!

SAMSUNG TALK 9:
AD INFINITUM

Goodhour, Synapse Circuit Readers. How are you? I hope that all is well in your world and that you are making the most of your tech! Thank you so much for taking the time to read my articles and for your kind comments! Much appreciated!

I guess you have worked out that with “Ad infinitum” I am referring to the latest Samsung ads aimed squarely at the other guys! Wink, wink...

THE BIASED TECH-MEDIA RUMBLED!
As you know, I have exposed the Apple biased tech-media from way back and how they capture the feeble minded public’s lack of imagination and an unwillingness to think for themselves. Now the Apple biased tech media are crying, “No fair!” and “Bad taste” with regards to Samsung’s tweets regarding Apple’s misfire of which some of the missiles (the AppleWatch range) will make an impact come 2015 and the latest humorous anti-Apple ads. Have you seen them? I think they are funny and to be taken with a pinch of salt in terms of being "spiteful"! “Bad taste”? Not because of the pinch of salt but because it is said that the belated marketing genius should be left to "rest in peace". Let me tell you something right now! As much as I hated Jobs’ disdain and a complete lack of good sportsmanship towards the competition I thought he demonstrated great passion and a dedicated vision – albeit flawed – with regards to the rebranding of Apple and its position as a leading technological pioneer (although not accurate). However, the man aimed his coffin at the competition in his death! It’s okay for the iPhone based media to disturb him with praise towards these cannibalizing products that he was vehemently opposed to:-

A tablet smaller than 10”; Jobs had a good laugh at the Google Nexus 7 and Cook sanctioned the 7.9 iPad mini.

A larger iPhone; such was the power of Jobs’ vision and charisma that he convinced the iPhone user that 3.5” was ideal. Seriously???? Is it any wonder that this caused iPhone users to HATE on us Android users without really understanding why???? These hardcore iDiots talk “premium” to defend the stupid screen size but the components certainly aren't. The biased tech-media clearly demonstrated that they think that iPhone users are iDiots to suggest that the size of my hands is the same as every iPhone user on the planet. But all of a sudden – thanks to Samsung’s ads (and a bit of commonsense) – the much hyped keynote that happened on the 9/9/14 was centred on two larger iPhone models. Technological innovation??? I think not! iThinkNot...

Again, if the sentiment is that Jobs should rest in peace then they – both Apple and the biased tech-media are certainly picking their moments and not moments tinged with wisdom. It’s okay though to refer to Jobs’ hatred of Android whenever Apple looks weak against the brilliant top of the range handsets that include Samsung’s Galaxy S and Note range. Is it journalism to dismiss the iPad beating Galaxy Tab S only to falsely praise the iPad Air as THE best tablet on the market? But it was okay to pursue pointless litigation in the literal spirit of Jobs to remove, unjustifiably, some Samsung products off the shelves (so to speak).

Biased tech-media, you have been exposed... AGAIN!!!

CROWNED DUMB
Do you remember when Samsung released the first Galaxy Gear smartwatch September 4, 2013 (wow, it feels like longer)? Do you remember what Cook said about it? Let me paraphrase... He said something along the lines of this: “Samsung has showed what the smartwatch shouldn’t be... Trust them (Samsung) to make a mess of it...” Harsh words from a CEO of a corporation based around the notion of being at the very cutting edge of technological excellence. iPhone users had extremely high hopes of an Apple smartwatch. Cook’s dismissive comment on the Galaxy Gear was taken as the throwing down of the gauntlet. We were fooled into thinking that Apple was going to show the world just how a smartwatch should be executed. Timing (hee hee) was everything...

Do you remember the classic Simpson’s episode whereby Homer tracked down his long lost brother, the owner of a car design and manufacturing company, who then got Homer to design the "all American car"? Can you remember the result and the reaction when it was revealed? Hahahaha! That was such a funny episode! The episode is called 'Oh, Brother, Where Art Thou?' The Simpsons Season 2 Episode 15.

Above: 'The Homer' car made for fun in real life!

When the AppleWatch was revealed it looked and still looks like a bit of a monstrosity with that awful “Digital Crown”. That’s what Apple is famous for redesign and reinvention (not to mention marketing)! The “candy bar” mobile phone morphed into buttonless touch screen handset that was the first iPhone. Now they have taken the traditional analogue watch and redesigned it with this monstrous “Digital Crown” that serves to be awkward if you are left handed – the “Digital Crown” will be hard to manipulate when worn on the right wrist. Now that’s what I call a dumbwatch! Scattering a bunch of apps on the screen of the AppleWatch looks like a mess! It's the equivalent of throwing poop at the wall; something will stick! Apple haven't figured out how to make a decent UI (user interface) for its ecosysem.

I’ve long since exposed Apple as re-designers as opposed to true technological innovators. Once they have a redesign they feel is ripe then their media machine is unleashed to convince you that you need it above anything else available on the market. Apple’s media machine is frightening as I have exposed just how far it goes! In the UK there is a questionable tech TV program coming back on the air in a few days and some people have dubbed it “The Apple Show”! Hahahaha! It’s true! I’ve seen some really dumb comparisons of the iPhone with leading premium Android handsets and the verdict has been, “Yes, the iPhone wins this challenge because blah, blah, blah...” Yeah, right!

Google and Samsung have the right idea to make their smartwatches screen-centric in that you use the touch screen to interface with it and / or use voice commands. There is a reason why Apple concentrated on the myriad alternative wristbands for its AppleWatch and it’s because it is not the pinnacle of technical excellence as they’d like to have you believe.

I was honestly expecting by Cook’s throwdown that we’d see something that belongs in a recent Sci-Fi movie and the world came to realize that Apple had just literally digitalized – if you can call it that – the analogue watch. Only the ardent and most devoted attendee of the Church of Apple will spend $349 on a dumbwatch. Me? If I were an Apple follower I’d invest that $349 somewhere else... An iPad maybe??? Let me pass that collection plate to the person next to me!

I think that the smartwatch should be viewed as a cursor to compliment the handset and to also compliment YOU! Act on your whims / requests. Here’s a scenario that I am imagining regarding the usefulness of a smartwatch.

“OK, Google... I want to walk to the nearest Whole Food store in Central London; direct me!”

What I want to hear from my smartwatch is this...

“The nearest Whole Food store is in Piccadilly Circus. Would you like directions?”

“Yes.”

“Keep walking to the end of this street... Cross at the traffic lights and then turn left...”

I will keep hearing directions until I reach my destination. And when I am veering off I am told that I am going off course and / or an alternate route would be suggested instead – maybe I want to do some sightseeing along the way! I don’t really want to have my face into the smartwatch all the way there. I can opt to have the directions spoken through a Bluetooth headset if need be!

The other vision I have is that the design is more elongated lengthwise and wider height-wise. In other words I have the equivalent of a Galaxy S5 Mini – for example – on my wrist with a nice curved SuperAMOLED screen complimented with a hypoallergenic wristband not unlike what we have seen in some Sci-Fi movies (check out a movie called 'Lock Out'). I envisage such a smartwatch – “LifeCursor” as I call it as I think “smartwatch” is an already dated expression / term. It’s just because we wear the device on our wrists that we associate it with a watch. Yes, we watch it but we can also listen to it too!

Apple can only make its move once there is a device out there to re-imagine and repackage as its own! Apple can't invent. Now the Galaxy Note Edge is what I call innovation and invention. The design is sublime!

UNDERSTANDING
Sadly, the Apple biased tech media will continue to misdirect the mentally dull and / or vulnerable into the idea that Samsung is being "insensitive" with regards to their recent responses to the iPhone 6 models and AppleWatch with their Twitter and YouTube outbursts. What we are not seeing in the tech media and the media in general is news bulletins on TV, for example, stating that Samsung was right with its design of handsets based around a larger screen. What they say when mentioning the competition is something along these lines, “It’s the news that every iPhone user has been waiting for... ...news of larger screens... Apple looks as like they are trailing behind its competitors...”

They do not mention Samsung by name and how it pioneered the market for handsets with larger screens. They may mention Samsung in the context of an "enemy" but they rarely state the truth: Samsung premium products are the best - plastic or not! They don’t even mention Samsung’s groundbreaking Galaxy Note 4, Note Edge, Gear S and Gear VR in comparison to Apple’s feeble keynote products! They didn’t even bother report news of these fabulous Galaxy Tab S range that features a screen that just burns out the iPad’s! That’s not journalism. Yes, of course, they keep harping on about "plastic" as though they haven't seen iPhone's that look as though they've been in a warzone! That's what I call brainwashing! It's definitely not right!

Oh, please Note (4) (hee hee) that my usual iPhone attackers have fallen silent after 9/9/14! Gee, I wonder why? Hahahaha!
