SYNAPSE CIRCUIT SIGHTINGS
Good evening, Synapse Circuit Readers. How are you doing tonight? I hope that
all is well in your world! Android? iOS? Apple? Samsung? It’s all good! Yes,
some of you are way too sensitive when your tech comes under criticism! Lol!
Take it easy! Wink, wink...
I am starting a new theme on the subject of... ...TECH ON THE STREETS...
#SynapseCircuit #SynapseCircuitSightings #TechOnThe Streets #LG #Google
#Android #Nexus5 #GPad8
ANDROID Greater London, 22 August 2014, I was out and about
earlier today and I saw a young man with his tech and making the most them.
Spotted today were the Google Nexus 5 and the LG G Pad 8! Oh, you can see that
the headphones are from Beats!
I thought I’d document, when I can, ordinary folk using their tech on the
streets of London (or anywhere else I care to visit). It is interesting to me
to see how tablets (Android & iPad) work their way into everyday life.
I reckon my prediction is coming true that Android tablets will become
commonplace on London’s streets just like the smartphone is.
Something to think about...

GOOGLE NEXUS 5 & MOBILE CAMERA TALK #Google #GoogleNexus
#Nexus5 #HandsetCamera
Good evening, Synapse Circuit Readers! 2013 has been, predictably, an amazing
year thus so far! If you love tech like I do the chances are you’re feeling
dizzy with anticipation. My goodness, the evolution of the handset has been
rapid and amazing! Both Android and Windows are driving this evolution extremely
hard!
The major manufacturers / tech houses have thrown down:-
Apple iPhone 5S
LG G2
MicroNokia Lumia 925
Motorola Moto X (yes, Google Motorola are back with style)
Samsung Galaxy Note 3 & Gear smartwatch
Sony Xperia Z1 (with the Z Ultra to come)
In
my humble opinion it’s Apple that’s trailing behind; sure the 64-bit operating
system is certainly an advancement – first! But at the moment a 64-bit handset
is not a major factor. And you all know what I think of the Touch ID addition. Samsung
has recently announced that they are going to present a 64-bit handset for 2014
and is said to be waiting for Google to release a 64-bit version of Android. More
proof to squash the odd idea that Samsung will move away from Android. Could
this be what Android 5 is all about? Well, it (Lemon Meringue Pie – that’s what
I’m calling it) is sure as heck going to be a major release.
The best of each of the handsets listed above could be combined in one badass
handset of all handsets! I appreciate how the manufacturers have left each
other a bit of the market between them. Samsung and Sony have gone for handset
photography in very unique ways with the Galaxy Zoom S4, Xperia Z1 and the DSC-QX100.
Why, just the other day I was speaking with a couple of friends of mine about photography.
One friend is a dedicated photographer and makes her living from her skills and
the other uses mobile camera technology to bypass having to have a separate
camera and a bunch of lenses. I side with using mobile camera technology due to
the undeniable excellent quality coming from the iPhone, Galaxy S4, S4 Zoom, Galaxy
Note 3 Lumia and Z1 for example. They can be used to print up to A3 documents
that are pleasing to the eye! I can certainly vouch for the Samsung premium
Galaxy range as I have printed documents that include photos taken from the S3,
and Note.
Video is a different kettle of fish; as sharp and clear as the full HD quality
can be it is always the sound that let such videos down. However, many people –
thanks to the YouTube phenomenon – don’t mind the guerrilla nature of mobile
phone video footage.
My question is: What will Google add to the mobile phone photography market?
GOOGLE NEXUS 5
After the release of the Nexus 4 Google’s Vic Gundotra has been promising to
deliver a camera with a difference. So far the innovations have been with the
camera software – if they could only deliver this sphere option!
Depending on the side of the fence you’re sitting on with regards to
megapixels, Google Nexus is either a little behind or holding their own when it
come to the 8MP camera on the current Nexus 4.
According to HTC and now Apple, less megapixels is more; the megapixels are
fewer but larger to let in more light. So, what you get with these cameras is a
clear photo that is smaller in size in comparison to the cameras featuring a
higher megapixel value.
HTC One: 2688
x 1520 pixels
Samsung Galaxy S4: 4128 x 3096 pixels
Big difference! You will almost certainly notice the difference when importing
into a document and printing it in a professional bureau. The HTC One takes
very, very good low light conditions by using a lower megapixel value that is
larger to let in more light; Samsung, LG and other manufacturers rely on a
night mode and the use of an LED flash. Personally, because I often use a
professional printer I prefer the higher megapixel value as utilized by LG,
Samsung and Sony to great effect.
What direction will the Nexus 5 take? It looks very likely that LG will be
realizing the Nexus 5 and if that is the case I am anticipating a 13MP main
camera with 2 or 3 or perhaps even a 5MP camera for high quality selfies!
4K video? Hmmm... Is 4K video something of importance? Now that’s a question!
Apple and Sony do not seem to think so! Will the Nexus 5 go that one better
than the iPhone and Xperia Z1? I’d be a little disappointed if Google dropped
the ball with the camera.
People seem to be waking up to the potential of using their premium handset as
a camera and camcorder. In fact the phenomena of full HD video coming to the
smartphone effectively killed off the pocketcam market. See, I can’t even
remember that flippin’ pocketcam? What’s it called? Never mind, it is gone!
I can’t wait to see the camera software!
CPU, RAM, STORAGE AND EVERYTHING ELSE
I am expecting a 1.9GHz quad CPU or faster with 2GB RAM and the same 8GB and
16GB storage options. It would be advantageous if there was a microSD card slot!
I think the argument against having a microSD card slot is very weak; if non-technical
people find the subject of storage confusing it is an indication that Android
can be improved upon in that direction.
This time around Google will go for the same 4.7” screen but in full HD. Would
Google do a phablet? The Nexus 5.5? Yes, why not? I think this is the one thing
that is missing from Google, the phablet. Yeah, come on Google, do a phablet! I
wanna see your take on it!
I would want either a removable battery or a power-pack unit similar to that of
what HTC has done to extend the life of the One.
I am also very curious about the design; what will Nexus 5 look like? I thought
and still think that the Nexus 4 is wonderfully designed. Could the bezel get
any thinner?
IN TIME FOR CHRISTMAS?
I guess it would make sense to release the Nexus 5 in time for Christmas! It
would make for a great marketing statement: the Christmas gift that you’d want
to give to yourself!
PRICE?
£290 for the 16GB version? Wishful thinking, huh?
ANDROID 4.4?
It could very well be that Android 4.4, KitKat will be the operating system
with Lemon Meringue Pie, 5, to come in 2014.
In the meantime we can enjoy the “leaks”
as they appear up until the end!
What do you reckon? What would you like
to see on the Nexus 5?
Take good care!

THE BREAKFAST WITH SUNDAR FALLOUT PART THREE: ANDROID POWER
#SundarPichai #Android43 #Nexus72 #Chromecast #Android5 #AndroidTV #Nexus5
Good evening, Synapse Circuit Readers! It makes you wonder, right? Android 4.3
makes you just wonder what the full-blown version 5 will have in store for us
Android users. My mind boggles...
COMPETITION Is
there any real competition for Android? Ubuntu? Ubuntu can coexist with Android
so Ubuntu isn’t a threat – at least I haven’t been able to identify a threat. Tizen?
Tizen has yet to make its debut and it is believed that Samsung will debut a
Tizen based handset later on this year. Tizen is yet another Linux based
operating system that could lend itself to being compatible with Android. Tizen
has the potential to go the way Samsung’s own Bada has gone. Bada what?
iOS is a relative threat in that Apple will want to add routines for
technologies to come such as HD resolutions beyond the standard 1080p. I do
believe a race is on for the first mobile device to incorporate a camera
capable of recording 4K television screens — 3840 × 2160! That’s twice the
resolution of 1920 x 1080! I would imagine that it’ll take at least two years
for this to happen; before 4k cameras the immediate race is to incorporate a HD
camera that can record at 60 frames per second and the iPhone 6 could be the
one. There’s no doubt in my mind that Samsung is already on it! 60 fps on the
Galaxy S5?
One of the attributes of Android 4.3 is to accommodate the 4K resolution with a
pixel per inch density of 640! Does this mean that Chromecast is future proof?
Oh, you may have heard that the Chromecast dongle USA has sold completely out!
I am not surprised.
THE VISION
Chromecast has just become a breakthrough product that has taken off where
Google TV has been struggling to take hold amongst the various cable and
freeview boxes out there. Chromecast is the beginning of the reinvention of the
Chrome TV concept. I am guessing that the next step will be Android TVs that
will feature advanced versions of YouTube, Google Music and so on. It’s highly
likely that Samsung will be behind the Android TV closely followed by LG and
Sony! TV in the not so distant future under Google will be amazing. Those
massive screens of Sci-Fi movies that is part computer and part TV will become
a reality.
Android 5 – when it arrives – is going to be phenomenal! What are the odds of
Android 5 coinciding with Nexus 5? And what manufacturer will be behind it?
Will it be LG again? Or is it now the turn of an up and coming manufacturer
such as ZTE, Oppo and Huawei? Hmmmm, using the process of elimination... ZTE,
what advances have they done lately? Since the Grand X it seems to me that ZTE
are going backwards with the Blade 3 budget handset that is not up to much once
the applications receive an upgrade; the camera isn’t up to much too! Oppo has released
the amazing looking and featured Find 5 with a 13MP camera that does 120 fps
and I assume that’s not full HD through non-disclosure. Rumour has it that Find
6 will feature an 8MP front-facing camera for the ultimate selfie! With such
spec Oppo could deliver a phenomenal Nexus 5! Huawei is an interesting
manufacturer that tries to deliver good budget handsets that do not live up to
expectations. Huawei succeeds with their premium handsets and has parallels with
Samsung. Huawei’s Ascend P6 looks brilliant and perhaps they have earned a shot
at the Nexus 5.
Or is it Asus’ turn to have a go at the Nexus handset seeing as they have done
exceptionally well with the Nexus 7 mark II tablet?
On the other hand it could be Samsung again and why not? In my humble opinion I
think the Galaxy S4 Zoom is a remarkable handset and so is the Note 2 (and I
presume 3 also).
Android 5 is a big
deal and Google could make a big deal by releasing the following:
Nexus 5 4.8”
Nexus 5 phablet
Nexus 5 mini
Nexus 5 Zoom
Nexus 5 Moto X
Well, my ability to predict what Google will do next has been abysmal. But
Google has the scope to do all of the above.
I’ll go out on a limb and predict Android 5 with the Nexus 5 around November or
December 2013.
What do you reckon?

The new and improved Nexus 7 second generation running Android 4.3.
SYNAPSE
CIRCUIT
TODAY IS THE DAY: ANDROID 4.3 & NEXUS 7 MARK II.
#SundarPichai #Android4.3 #Nexus7
Good afternoon, Synapse Circuit Readers! It’s less than 2 hours before we know
what Google’s Sundar Pichai, head of Android and Chrome, will be revealing.
It is expected that we’ll be introduced to Android 4.3, Nexus 7 second
generation and possibly the latest developments with Chrome.
MORE EXCITEMENT Android
fans around the world will be very excited in anticipation even though the
general consensus is that Android 4.3 will not be a major leap forward. It is
an advancement nonetheless of the world’s most popular mobile operating system!
Bring it on!
I would imagine that every dedicated fan has seen the leaks of the second
generation Nexus 7 tablet (as pictured above) and that it will not come as a
big surprise. However, the Nexus 7 mark 2 is good news for the consumer who is
considering a tablet this year. I’m considering a tablet this year and I have
yet to decide. I can hardly wait!
1:26:48 and counting...

Good afternoon, Synapse Circuit Readers! Once again, I am so happy to be
blessed with another day of exceptional sunny weather! It is beautiful out! I
hope you are being spoiled by fantastic weather too!
Are you thinking about the Moto X? I have been wondering too...
IF MOTO X IS THE FLAGSHIP... ...then
maybe the reports speculating on the components i.e. the CPU, 720p screen
resolution, etc are intended for another (mid-range) device.
The image “leaks” (yeah, right) seem to be pointing to two handsets: the
flagship and mid-range.
Google bought
Motorola Mobility for $12.5 billion in mid-2011 in order to acquire the
company's patents and hardware for its Android ecosystem. Therefore they had to
until up until now inject Google into Motorola. Many tech media analysts talk
about Motorola is if they are in the same situation as Nokia. Oh no! Google has
carefully planned the take over and now they are ready to deliver their NeXus
touch to new Motorola devices.
Google may let
Motorola spend as much as $500 million to market the Moto X smartphone in the
United States and abroad to compete with other smartphones on the market. That
indicates that the Moto X is going to be a major device competing with the
heavyweights: Samsung, Apple, HTC, LG, etc.
BACK TO FRONT
If you look at the images above – if they are authentic – it appears as though
the front back do not match beyond the obvious colour differences.
I believe that we are being prepped for the launch of two or possibly three
Moto X devices. Yes, just like they did with the RAZR handsets.
I guess this is why Motorola aren’t entering the tablet market just yet – they are
busy re-establishing themselves as serious mobile phone competitors. Besides,
Google are said to be delivering the second generation Nexus 7 tablet. So, does
this mean...
NO MORE GOOGLE NEXUS HANDSETS?
Now that Google has had their long awaited input into Motorola does this mean
we will see the end of Nexus handsets produced in collaboration with other manufacturers?
If this is true, what would that mean in terms of component features of future
Nexus handsets? Will we see the full effect of the Google design once the
collaboration element has been removed?
Whatever the case may be, I am looking forward to the official launch of the
Moto X and to hearing more about Google and Google Motorola’s plans for the
future.
Let me know what you think!
